STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl Delayed to November 20, Gets New Trailer

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will now be launching on November 20, 2024, moving from the previously planned date of September 5, 2024.

"We know you might be tired of waiting, and we truly appreciate your patience. These two additional months will give us the chance to fix more "unexpected anomalies" (or simply "bugs", as you call them). We are always grateful for your ongoing support and understanding - it means the world to us. We're just as eager as you are to finally release the game and for you to experience it for yourself." said Yevhen Grygorovych, Game Director at GSC Game World.
With the launch nearly here, the team is ready to share the biggest and the most comprehensive update on the game yet. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Developer Deep Dive will premiere in collaboration with Xbox on the 12th August, 2024, featuring a variety of never-before-seen content, including:
  • Interviews and behind-the-scenes of the development process;
  • Lots of new footage, including world overview, various locations, gameplay and cutscenes;
  • A full video walkthrough of one of the story quests.
This Developer Deep Dive is set to give our fans the full understanding of how the game plays and looks. More details will be shared soon.

Since the very start of Russia's full-fledged war against our country, GSC Game World has been supporting Ukraine in all the ways possible. For those willing to do the same, we recommend following a link to the official charity fund of Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine himself.

LOL. My comments about the game not coming until 2025-2026 are aging like fine wine. This won't come even NOV 2024, mark my words.

GSC Game World is probably the one studio that gets a legitimate pass on needing any and all extra time

Because? There is nothing happening in Prague.

GSC is saying this release is firm but I don't know. With the war in the Ukraine and the claimed cyberattacks it would be impressive if they pull it off. I also wouldn't hope for anything like a patched and polished game right away.

Didn't a director or writer or something die on the front?

No. Was regular employee and that was back in 2022. The entire company moved long time ago in Prague. And even with the first game, the delays got out of control. It's just their trademark.
Aka don't expect the game this year. This is like Cyberpunk 2077 dejavu.

The later, the better the polish should be. Is not like I'm preordering this game anyways...

The OG STALKER was delayed a lot. Like, a lot. And the state of the game at release could be described with a lot of different adjectives, but "polished" was absolutely not one of them.
War or no, this is business as usual for GSC.

Is it even a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game if it comes out as scheduled and/or without bugs (or features as we might have called it, <3 X-Ray Engine)?

Gee...I guess it's unfortunate that the game is being delayed again. I mean, this is clearly the only game out there in existence that we have to look forward to playing. No other games exist that we could occupy our time with.

What are we to do?

Invalid argument. That doesn't change my point at all. The workspace is important and that's Prague. At this point you are just nagging.

There is no argument, you would need to post something accurate to begin one. I simply corrected your false statement and educated you as lack of intellectual reasoning does not make a valid point invalid. Failure to understand the trauma of one's country under attack, and leaving behind people including friends, in laws, parents, siblings and other family members has an emotional toll. Moving away does not make any of those facts go away.

In my opinion everyone working on a game should shut the F up and not announce release dates until the game is basically in beta phase.

One would think GSC's Polish would be fine from the get-go but okay :roll:

They can delay it until the RTX5090 launches (and available) as far as I am concerned.

Not a real stalker game unless it gets delayed.

Shadow Of Chernobyl was delayed 6 years IIRC. 2001 was announced as Oblivion Lost and in 2007 released, full of bugs. I remember to play 1.0001 version of the game and did not have 20 minutes without BSOD or crash :)
Still, one of my most played and beloved games ever :) so, I am greatful that we will have another Stalker game. It will be there, have no issues with delays

This thing and new Kingdom Come are the only games I wait for, but I'd always choose to wait longer than get game buggy. To the point that I would prefer waiting as long as needed to get it totally bug free. There're always some great games to play in the meantime. E.g. next Yakuza installment :D

Why am I not surprised?

At least it shows willingness to spend time on properly developing the game before release, I'll give them that.

Should anyone pre-order this game? There are 2 answers to that question.

No.
Hell No.

I chose both. :)
