2XKO Gets Official September Closed Beta Launch As League of Legends Studio Lines Up for 2025 Full Launch
The last time we checked in with Riot Games's upcoming tag-team fighting game based on the League of Legends universe and characters, 2XKO was still in closed alpha testing, and Riot was teasing a new closed alpha period, encouraging players to get in on the action. Now, the game studio has taken to social media platform X to share that 2XKO will be entering closed beta on September 9, 2025. The closed beta will be invite-only and is currently only available to PC players, and players can apply to the closed beta via Riot Games's website. Riot says that 2XKO will remain online "from here on out," and that the open beta signals the start of the full roll-out. Players who have already played the closed alpha version of the game do not need to reapply for access, and players who already have access to the game can invite their friends along for the ride.
Alongside the announcement of the closed beta release, Riot also released a gameplay trailer for Vi, character who recently became popular because of the Arcane TV series adaptation. In the trailer, Vi shows off her classic brawler fighting style, which makes full use of her iconic gauntlets to dish out hard-hitting punches and flashy combos. 2XKO was initially slated to launch fully to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series platforms sometime in 2025, but with only three months between the closed beta launch and the end of the year, it's unclear if this is still the plan. If the full release is still planned for 2025, it seems as though Riot Games has plenty of confidence in the game's current state. The game studio does seem to be releasing new characters quite frequently, with Vi representing the eighth champion in the roster.
