Intel EOL Core 2 Processors

Tech ARP is reporting that Intel will discontinue six Intel Core 2 processors and four Intel Pentium D processors in November 2007. Intel will EOL the Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 in November 2007 and the Intel Core 2 Duo E6700, E6600, E6300, E6420 and E6320 processors in January 2008. Intel will also drop four Pentium D processor models and three Pentium 4 processor models by October 2007. Note that this is based on a leaked report and may be inaccurate.

damn thats fast, I guess shrinking dies is a factor in the decision as well as the new model numbers. most of those cpus are still plenty fast.

edit: the connies, the pentium d's are loooong overdue for this.

If something get's EOL, that just means they stop making them right? You can still buy them?

Channels dry up VERY FAST. There isn't a lot of "stock" in the retail channels, so if you want one, buy new NOW, or buy used through ebay later.

Seems like they are doing it way to early, plus it will make me feel outdated again.........

Why would they discontinue those? (Conroes)The E6600 has been their best seller (and a great proc I must say) right from the gate. Seems a little early to give those conroes the boot. Those pentiums shoulda been dumped a while ago. Doesn't really matter to me, I'm going back to AMD when "phenom" appears anyway. But it would be nice to have some replacements in the off chance this 6600 I'm using right now fails..:-(

E6750 is way cheaper here, and faster.
