S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat for PC Announced

GSC Game World, publisher of the highly-acclaimed Survival FPS S.T.A.L.K.E.R. title, is glad to announce today that a new project in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series is on its way - S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat for PC. Call of Pripyat is the working title of the game, so it might change before the final game is released. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat will become the third stand-alone game from the series. The events in the game unfold shortly after the end of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Having discovered about the open path to the Zone center, the government decides to hold a large-scale military "Fairway" operation aimed to take the CNPP under control. However, the operation becomes a major fail, and a team of Ukraine Security Service agents is sent to collect information on reasons behind the operation's bad ending. Players will take on the role of an agent, and write their own story from that point on. The title is slated for release in fall 2009. Below are some of the main features of this new exciting game.

  • Photorealistic exclusion Zone -- Pripyat town, Yanov railway station, Jupiter factory, Kopachi village and more, recreated by their true-to-life prototypes.
  • New story, a number of unique characters.
  • Extended system of side quests.
  • New monsters: Chimera and Burer. New behaviour and abilities for all monsters.
  • New A-Life system, created using the players' best-liked elements of the first two games in series.
  • Emissions considerably influence the world of the Zone.
  • Sleep function added into the game.
  • New player interface.
  • Possibility to continue the game after completion in a freeplay mode.
  • The game is developed on X-Ray engine v.1.6

Yes they do. That's why you gotta mod the textures. I usually use SHARPER mod, makes the textures really crisp and sharp. Other than that it's the best looking game that still runs great. Crysis I still can't run maxed out. Have to have everything on medium/high, and even then I still don't get 40+FPS.

dont know about the clear sky stalker but it is bug ridden to fuck only after patches and mods does it look great and run great

it stressed my old 8800gt a lot and looked barley great by those days standards what it was years late to the market!

i know why i dont like it, it seems like its to slow, do its meaning less task, do another, collect something, do some crap shooting that is not accurate and it isnt even like the bad shooting is a realism feature

if this is good from the start ill play it otherwise ill wait till price drop thats how i got stalker 1 and i hardly touched it apart from ketxxx great mod

ShadowFoldI've got at least 100 hours on each stalker. Good to see they FINALLY added freeplay to this one.. That's what I hated the most about the first two.

Mind telling me what graphics mods you're using?
stalker weather overhaul plus float32

What are you guys talking about there about graphics!?
Are you even aware that there are no female characters in STALKER? As a Fallout fan, I'd have to say they missed out on a lot of story opportunities by not including women. Not to mention it makes the game look like a post-apocalyptic prison "party" ;)

I have both Shadow of Chernoblyl and Clear Sky and a don't play them much at all.

I still can't wait for this one because it's another good game to add to the PC.

AphexDreamerEver since the First STALKER I was all hyped up. I played the first one admired it and its look then but never got used to the gameplay. I even was bold enough to try STALKER Clear Sky due to its acclaimed graphics. However Clear Sky's graphics is overrated and the gameplay pissed me off. I put that shit on easy and was still getting pwned, not the first time I played an FPS you know and the graphics are weak in my opinion better then most modern games but I actually feel as if Crysis was more optimized then it performance to looks ratio. I respect peoples views on the game and hey as long as you enjoyed it who cares right?
I like the graphics in Crysis and STALKER series but to me games arent so much about gfx as they are about gameplay. maybe you need to try to think of different strategies when you play. I play all games on the hardest settings and some of them feel like medium and some feel like the devs got the hardest setting to feel like just that but that isnt very often

the main thing is to adapt to the game. you cant always just go in like a young guns posse with guns a blazin. use cover, flanking and crouching. ensure you have a good mouse such as a G5 or atleast a MX518 - those 2 buttons on the side for your thumb are vital. with all games you will get a better feel and get better at it once you figure out what works. I would have to say that Crysis was one of the hardest games for me to adapt to but once I did I flew through it

I hope not, they updated the series every month and add barely anything new to the series.

and thats why you got to mod Crysis to get its glory and enjoy it with 50-60FPS;)

As long as each one has enough gameplay tweaks, it would be awesome.

If you continue the game in the middle/end the shooting accuracy is awesome because of the new weapons are more powerful then the game become very enjoyable.

I cannot wait for this. I jsut hope for the love of God that they fix the engine so that it doesn't constantly crash and make it unplayable. I'm look at you Clear sky. I really wanted to play that game but it jsut constantly crashed and froze my rig. Pissed me off so much. I even patched.

I still to this day cannot play Clear Sky. It is stuck at the beginning when the guy first wakes up. Can't do anything. Even with the patches

No shit Sherlocke. I adapt trust me. I play all my games on the hardest settings. Bioshock, F.E.A.R, F.E.A.R 2, Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Resident Evil 5, you name it. I mean I do well and do what it takes to beat the game. S.T.A.L.K.E.R just pissed the fudge out of me. I couldn't get used to its gameplay for the life of me. I wouldn't die all the time but certain parts would get me even if I put it on easy. I mean usually when this happens to me in a game that frustrates me I just don't play it till weeks or months later and then get back to it and then beat it with enjoyment. Clear Sky I just cheated on to beat it for the story line.
