ASUS today announced MG278Q, a 27-inch widescreen-quad-high-definition (WQHD) display designed for professional gaming. It features an almost-instantaneous 1 ms response time; as well as an incredible 144 Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync technology for smooth, seamless gameplay. MG278Q has an ergonomic design, and has Ultra-Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free technologies to protect users' eyes during marathon gaming sessions. Featuring the latest 6th Generation Intel Core processors and Z170 motherboards, G.SKILL is pushing dual channel DDR4 speed to new heights. Lian Li released the PC-Q17, an ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) co-branded, mini-ITX tower-type case, designed to go well with the ROG Maximus Impact line of premium mini-ITX motherboards. The case retains the sharp-edge design language of the ROG brand, with a sloped brushed-aluminium front, a trapezoid side-profile, and a faux-sloped rear panel. The side is characterized with a large acrylic window held to the case by four thumb-screws, which doubles up as the overall side-panel. A large, glowing ROG logo decks up its unique drive/PSU cage.

The PC-Q17 features a unique drive-bay arrangement, with a front drive bay that's arranged along the front panel, opening up to the top. This can be used to house either a slot-in type slimline optical drive, a 3.5-inch drive, or a 2.5-inch drive. Behind it, where you'd normally expect a stack of 3.5-inch bays, is the ATX-type PSU bay, with an AC cord leading to the rear panel AC receptacle. Behind this PSU bay are two 2.5-inch drive mounts. Two additional 3.5-inch mounts along the bottom panel of the case complete its drive bay loadout.

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced the GX860 Buzzard gaming mouse. This ergonomic gaming mouse sits comfortably in the user's hand, and is specially designed for marathon gaming sessions. ROG GX860 delivers ultra-precise cursor control, boasting a laser sensor with a 50 - 8200 dots per inch (DPI) resolution range and smooth-gliding fluoropolymer feet. ROG GX860 utilizes durable, high quality Omron switches for both left and right buttons for superior click feel and response. Users can easily create profiles via an intuitive software interface, with LED accents on the ROG GX860 glowing red, orange, or green to reflect the current selected settings.

Unmatched gaming precision and accuracy
ROG GX860 has a laser sensor with a 50 - 8200 DPI resolution range and smooth-gliding fluoropolymer feet for smooth and precise cursor control. ASUS formally launched the X99M-WS, a socket LGA2011v3 motherboard based on Intel X99 Express chipset, which it first showcased back in June, at Computex 2015. ASUS claims that this workstation-class motherboard is the most feature-rich X99-based product in the micro-ATX form-factor. The board supports Core i7 "Haswell-E" processors, in addition to certain Xeon E5 v3 series models. The board draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX, two 8-pin EPS, and 6-pin PCIe power connectors. It uses an 8-phase VRM to condition power for the CPU, and 2+2 phase VRM for the memory. The board features four DDR4 DIMM slots, supporting up to 64 GB of quad-channel DDR4 memory.

Expansion slots on the X99M-WS include three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (permanent x16/x16/x8 or x8/x8/x8 when i7-5820 is used), and one PCIe x1. Storage connectivity includes eight SATA 6 Gb/s, and one M.2 32 Gb/s slot. Networking is care of two gigabit Ethernet interfaces (both driven by Intel I210 controllers), and one 802.11 ac + Bluetooth 4.0 WLAN interface. USB connectivity includes two USB 3.1 ports (both type-A), six USB 3.0 ports, and a number of USB 2.0/1.1 ports. 8-channel ASUS CrystalSound 2 audio, and an optional PIKE SAS module, make for the rest of it.

Here are some of the first pictures of ASUS Radeon R9 Fury STRIX, detailed in no less than AMD's own [leaked] press-deck for the R9 Fury. It appears that only two AIB partners are going to launch the R9 Fury for whatever reason. These are the Sapphire, with its R9 Fury Tri-X card, and ASUS, with its R9 Fury STRIX. ASUS' card features the same new-generation triple-fan DirectCU III cooling solution that made its debut with the GTX 980 Ti STRIX, and is featured on the R9 390X STRIX. This cooler is mated to what appears to be the first custom-design PCB for AMD's "Fiji" silicon (Sapphire's card uses the reference AMD PCB carried over from the R9 Fury X). This card is firmly in the 30 cm-ish territory. Its display output configuration includes a DVI connector, apart from three DisplayPorts, and an HDMI connector. The cooler offers 0 dBA idle. AMD claims that the R9 Fury will offer higher performance than the GeForce GTX 980, and is hence expected to be priced in that range.

AMD today announced the new AMD FirePro S9170 server GPU, the world's first and fastest 32GB single-GPU server card for DGEMM heavy double-precision workloads, with support for OpenCL 2.0. Based on the second-generation AMD Graphics Core Next (GCN) GPU architecture, this new addition to the AMD FirePro server GPU family is capable of delivering up to 5.24 TFLOPS of peak single precision compute performance while enabling full throughput double precision performance, providing up to 2.62 TFLOPS of peak double precision performance. Designed with compute-intensive workflows in mind, the AMD FirePro S9170 server GPU is ideal for data center managers who oversee clusters within academic or government bodies, oil and gas industries, or deep neural network compute cluster development.

ASUS showcased three of its premium GeForce GTX 980 Ti based graphics card offerings, apart from the GTX 980 Ti STRIX that's already in the market. These include the Republic of Gamers (ROG) branded GTX 980 Ti MATRIX, its ASUS 20th Anniversary commemorative Gold Edition variant with slightly higher clocks; and the liquid-cooling ready air-cooled GTX 980 Ti Poseidon Platinum.

The GTX 980 Ti Poseidon Platinum features a dual-fan air-cooling solution that combines a liquid-cooling channel, letting you improve its cooling performance. This card features the shortest PCB among all of ASUS' GTX 980 Ti offerings. Next up, is the GTX 980 Ti MATRIX. This Bonafide ROG-branded product, with its matte red+black color-scheme, a meatier dual-fan DirectCU II cooler than the one featured on the STRIX, a stronger VRM, and the ROG badging, should make it appeal to the ROG (premium gamer-overclocker) crowd. Expect this card to ship with a >20% factory OC. A slightly faster, limited-edition variant of this card, with its gold cooler shroud, will also be available. The three cards should be launched over the next few weeks.

ASUS is reportedly giving final touches to an air-cooled Radeon R9 Fury (that's Fury without the "X") graphics card, based on its new-generation STRIX cooling solution. Listings of the card appeared online, with German retailer Computer PC Shop asking 623.90€ (including VAT) for it. If you remove the 19% VAT, you arrive at a price-tag of around 500€. This card is known to feature ASUS' DirectCU III triple-fan cooling solution, which made its debut with the R9 390X and GTX 980 Ti STRIX graphics cards. As for the SKU itself, the specs of the R9 Fury remain a mystery. AMD could lower the clocks, reduce the stream processor count, or a combination or the two. It still features 4 GB of HBM. Evidently, AMD allows its AIB partners to come up with custom-design boards for this SKU, which means a reference-design board is unlikely.

Powered by the latest GeForce GTX 980 Ti graphics-processing units (GPUs), Strix GTX 980 Ti features GPU boost clock speeds of up to 1291 MHz in gaming mode and 1317 MHz in OC mode, delivering up to 24% faster gaming performance than reference cards in The Witcher 3. It is packed with exclusive ASUS technologies, including DirectCU III with a patented triple wing-blade 0dB fan designed to deliver maximum airflow for 30%-cooler and three times (3X) quieter performance.

Strix GTX 980 Ti also has ASUS Auto-Extreme technology with Super Alloy Power II components for premium quality and reliability, plus GPU Tweak II with XSplit Gamecaster for intuitive performance tweaking and instant gameplay streaming.

ASUS introduced the N3150-C and N3050-C, two mini-ITX motherboards based on the Intel Celeron quad-core N3150 and N3050 SoCs, respectively. The two SoCs are based on the "Braswell" silicon, embedding quad-core or dual-core CPUs based on the 64-bit x86 "Airmont" CPU micro-architecture. The dual-core N3050 features HyperThreading, enabling four logical CPUs, while the quad-core N3150 lacks it. Both chips also embed dual-channel DDR3L IMCs, supporting up to 8 GB of memory; 8th generation Intel graphics with 12 execution units, and TDPs under 6W.

The N3150-C and N3050-C from ASUS feature a common PCB design, with 24+4 pin power inputs, two full-size DDR3 DIMM slots, a single open-ended PCI-Express 2.0 x4 expansion slot, an mPCIe slot, two each of SATA 6 Gb/s, USB 3.0, and USB 2.0 ports, 6-channel HD audio, gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and D-Sub display outputs; and legacy connectivity that includes two PS/2 ports, and a serial (RS-232) port.

TechPowerUp announced GPU-Z version 0.8.4. The latest version of the popular video subsystem information, monitoring, and diagnostic utility, comes with full support for AMD Radeon R9 Fury X graphics card, and support for two other chips, namely the Radeon R7 370, and Intel "Broadwell" GT3e. The user-interface has been polished up, to include high-DPI aware visual elements, such as vendor logos. The video BIOS UEFI support indicator has been improved.

ASUS managed to tame AMD's feisty "Grenada" silicon, which powers the Radeon R9 390 and Radeon R9 390X, by announcing two high-end graphics cards based on its new triple-fan STRIX DirectCU 3 cooling solution. The cooler turns its fans off when the GPU is idling (common desktop / light-3D loads), and begins to spool up only under heavy 3D loads. The company claims that this will be the quietest R9 390 series cards you can buy.

The STRIX DirectCU 3 cooler is the same as the one pictured cooling the GeForce GTX 980 Ti STRIX, which we spotted at Computex. It features a huge monolithic aluminium fin-stack heatsink, to which heat drawn from the GPU is fed by four 10 mm thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes. This heatsink is ventilated by three 100 mm spinners. This heatsink has contact bases even over the card's 8-phase VRM, and a base-plate that draws heat from its 16 GDDR5 memory chips, that make up 8 GB. The R9 390 STRIX offers factory OC of 1050 MHz (vs. 1000 MHz reference); while the R9 390X STRIX offers 1070 MHz (vs. 1050 MHz reference). The memory ticks at 6.00 GHz on both cards. ASUS didn't announce pricing.

ASUS will be designing its DirectCU 3 cooling solution in different sizes. We've seen the super-tall, almost-triple slot version, strapped to a GeForce GTX 980 Ti, at Computex. Here is its more tame, two-slot, normal-height sibling, which ASUS could feature on several of its performance segment products, such as the GTX 960, GTX 970, GTX 980, and perhaps even the upcoming Radeon R7 370 and R9 380. The card pictured below is a GTX 960.

The DirectCU 3 cooler appears to feature three heat dissipating components, a central heatsink that draws heat from the GPU, with two aluminium fin stacks on either sides, suspended along three 8 mm-thick copper heat pipes, which make direct contact with the GPU. A trio of temperature-activated 80 mm spinners ventilate it. This particular card offers factory-overclocked speeds of 1228 MHz core, 1291 MHz GPU Boost, and 7.00 GHz memory (vs. 1127 MHz core and 1178 MHz GPU Boost reference). The card started selling in China, there's no word on a wider launch. The cooler itself, though, will feature on a boat-load of upcoming products from ASUS.

ASUSTOR started integrating Rompr, a popular browser-based media center app with its new generation home NAS servers. The app lets you organize all your media files, audio and video, and lets you stream it to any device with a web-browser that can playback HTML5 video/audio. Rompr is tied to MPD (music-player daemon). ASUSTOR is focusing particularly on the ability to play back high-resolution audio formats, such as DSD Audio. Rompr-MPD will let you keep your media files away on your NAS, and govern access rights, so others in your home have access to media suitable to them.

On the first day of Computex, we sifted past the In Win 909, which at the time, we thought was a wacky enough case by In Win for this year; until the company dropped this on us, the next day. This unnamed In Win case (working title: "H-tower prototype") is being designed with the ASUS ROG brand licensed; which could be sold directly to the consumers, and part of an ASUS ROG desktop. The case looks like any heavily styled ATX mid-tower with premium aluminium panels, until you push a button, making the case open up like a blooming mech-flower from Cybertron, giving you easy access to its innards. There was nobody around the exhibit who wasn't gaping at it.The way it opens up is so cool that we decided to take a short video (after the break).

ASUS' mainline motherboard lineup based on the upcoming Intel Z170 chipset could retain the black + glossy white design scheme from the company's X99 mainline motherboard series. The company showed off its premium upper-mid segment Z170-Pro motherboard, which could be sold around the $170-$190 price range. This socket LGA1151 motherboard offers a 16-phase CPU VRM, a new high-capacity VRM heatsink design; and four DDR4 DIMM slots, supporting up to 64 GB of dual-channel DDR4-3000 memory.

Expansion slots include three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 (x16/NC/NC or x8/x8/NC or x8/x4/x4), and four PCI-Express 2.0 x1. Storage connectivity includes eight SATA 6 Gb/s, from which two wire out as a SATA-Express 16 Gb/s slot; and an M.2 slot. Other modern connectivity includes two USB 3.1 ports, eight USB 3.0 ports, two Intel-driven gigabit Ethernet interfaces, 802.11 ac WLAN with Bluetooth 4.0, and Crystal Sound 2 audio (115 dBA SNR CODEC, ground-layer isolation, audio-grade capacitors, EMI shielding, and DTS Ultra PC II).

ASUS' new generation triple-fan STRIX cooling solution was up on display at Computex. This gargantuan cooler will make its debut with the GeForce GTX 980 Ti STRIX OC, and is designed to tame the 250W TDP chip, by staying completely silent until the chip breaches a 65°C temperature threshold, and staying low-noise beyond that. It features a very large aluminium fin-stack, to which heat drawn directly from the GPU die is conveyed by 10 mm-thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes. The heatsink is ventilated by three 100 mm fans, with independent speed control using ASUS GPU Tweak tool. The GTX 980 Ti STRIX features a huge PCB that's 1.5x the standard add-on card height; and features a back-plate. It will ship with a 15% factory-overclock.

ASUS unveiled two new high-end 7.1-channel sound cards under its premium STRIX brand, the STRIX RAID DLX, the STRIX RAID Pro, and the STRIX Soar. The three are based on a common base card design, and differ with features and DSPs. The DAC component of the card consists of a native-PCIe multi-CODEC HD audio controller, wired to an ESS SABRE 9006a DAC, dedicated to the front audio output, with 116 dBA SNR; and a separate 110 dBA SNR DAC wired to the main headphones amplifier. On the RAID DLX, the front-out DAC is a higher quality SABRE 9016a.

The main amp can handle 600Ω impedance headphones. On the software side of things, is a Raid mode (positional audio), Sonic Radar (lets you pinpoint enemies based on audio, and a new Sonic Studio control panel interface. The RAID DLX and RAID Pro come with an external module with audio jacks, and physical switches to audio feature controls, besides volume control.

Here's the first picture of ASUS X99M-WS, an upcoming workstation-grade socket LGA2011v3 motherboard based on the Intel X99 Express chipset, which the company claims will be the "most powerful" motherboard of its kind in this form-factor. The board draws power from 24-pin ATX, and two 8-pin EPS power connectors, with an optional 6-pin PCIe power input to stabilize power to add-on cards. The socket is wired to four DDR4 DIMM slots, supporting up to 128 GB of quad-channel DDR4 memory; and two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 connectors.

Other expansion slots include one PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (electrical x4) and a PCI-Express 2.0 x1. Storage connectivity includes eight SATA 6 Gb/s, and a 32 Gb/s M.2 slot. Other connectivity includes two USB 3.1 ports, six USB 3.0 ports, two gigabit Ethernet interfaces (Intel-made controllers); 802.11 ac WLAN, Bluetooth 4.0, 8-channel HD audio with a 115 dBA SNR CODEC, ground-layer isolation, and audio-grade capacitors. The board supports certain 1P Intel Xeon models in addition to Core i7 ones.
