ASUS Intros Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT Dual OC Graphics Cards

ASUS updated its AMD Radeon graphics card lineup with the introduction of the Radeon RX 7800 XT Dual OC and RX 7700 XT Dual OC. This is an interesting development, given that the company only had TUF Gaming series custom-designs of the two GPUs at their early September 2023 launch. The company continues to lack any ROG Strix series products based on the RX 7800 XT, RX 7700 XT, and the RX 7900 series. The two new Dual OC series cards are positioned below the TUF Gaming products, and predictably, share a common board design for the RX 7800 XT Dual OC and the RX 7700 XT Dual OC.

The new Dual OC common board for the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT is just about 2 slots thick (or 2.2 slots to be specific). It is 27.9 cm long, and 13.39 cm tall, or about an inch taller than what constitutes "full height." Its cooler features an aluminium fin-stack heatsink that's ventilated by two 100 mm Axial Tech fans backed by dual ball bearings, webbed impellers, and idle fan-stop. The card draws power from two 8-pin PCIe power connectors. With its OC Mode enabled (via software), the RX 7800 XT Dual OC offers a Game clock of 2254 MHz and 2565 MHz Boost clock (vs. 2124/2430 MHz reference). The RX 7700 XT Dual OC, on the other hand, offers 2239 MHz Game clock and 2599 MHz Boost clock with its OC Mode enabled (vs. 2171/2544 MHz reference). The company didn't reveal pricing.

ASUS Intros GeForce RTX 4070 Turbo Graphics Card with Lateral Flow Cooler

ASUS introduced the GeForce RTX 4070 Turbo, a performance segment graphics card with a lateral blower-type cooling solution that should make it ideal for restrictive airflow environments (such as a stack of them in an AI processing box). The card is strictly 2 slots thick, no taller than what constitutes full-height for addon cards (11.1 cm), and is 26.9 cm long. It lacks a backplate, so it could give a little more breathing room to its neighboring card. Its sole power connector, an 8-pin PCIe, is located at the tail end of the card, instead of the top, for additional clearance.

Internally, the ASUS Turbo RTX 4070 cooling solution features a copper base-plate, which conveys heat to an aluminium channel stack that's ventilated by a lateral blower. ASUS has given this blower a high endurance dual ball-bearing. The RTX 4070 GPU at the heart of the card runs at NVIDIA reference specs, with a 2475 MHz boost frequency, and a 21 Gbps GDDR6X memory speed. It features 12 GB of it across a 192-bit memory bus. There are two SMD switches on the card, the "Turbo" switch overrides software fan control and holds the fan on a steep fan-curve, hitting 100% even; while the VM_SW switch toggles between a "Quiet" and "Performance" mode, we don't know if this uses a dual-BIOS mechanism, or is a physical toggle for ASUS GPU Tweak software. ASUS didn't release pricing information.

Sapphire Starts Selling Radeon RX 7600 Party Animals Edition Card in China

EXP Review reported on Sapphire selling a new special edition Radeon RX 7600 8 GB graphics card on China's JD.com online store—the custom design sports a very loud orange shroud replete with cat, dog, crocodile, sloth and rabbit graphics. It appears to be a slight reworking of Sapphire's Pulse RX 7600 OC 8 GB card, albeit with a fancy paint job that looks to celebrate the upcoming launch (September 20) of "Party Animals," a physics-based brawler/party game.

The Party Animals edition card is retailing for 2199 RMB (~$301), which is 200 RMB (~$27) more expensive than the standard Pulse/Platinum version—with identical base, game and boost clock speeds. A digital copy of the game is bundled with each purchase, as well as an exclusive in-game "Rocket" skin for the Nemo dog character. Sapphire's colorful Radeon graphics card is currently not in stock—we are not certain whether this lack of availability is down to popularity or a supply shortage, since it is difficult to ascertain information from the JD.com listing. EXP Review acknowledges that Sapphire launched this special edition product with little fanfare in China, so it remains to be seen whether any examples will reach Western outlets.

MAXSUN Adds RTX 4090 GPU to its Flagship MegaGamer Lineup

Chinese board partner Maxsun introduced its flagship—Mega Gamer GPU (MGG)—GeForce RTX 40-series lineup earlier this year, debuting with an RTX 4070 Ti card, and then an RTX 4080 MGG OC 16G model. The rather unique looking cooling solution attracted some attention at the time—a traditional set of three 100 mm fans was augmented with two additional 40 mm "Air Burst" units in a flanking position, acting as exhausts as for the finstack. Earlier today Maxsun revealed the range topping RTX 4090 MGG OC 24G model via a video uploaded to their Weibo channel.

The new headliner looks to be fitted with the same shroud design as seen on the already released RTX 4080 MGG OC 16G model, which includes a somewhat gimmicky magnetically detachable large top-facing RGB LED panel, dubbed "MGG LED Ambient Kit." Thankfully Maxsun has put the work into creating a robust cooling solution, with a vapor chamber capable of meting out 7000 mm² of heat dissipation. Their GeForce RTX 4090 MGG OC 24G model's TDP has been rated at 450 W TDP, with a factory overclock providing a 2580 MHz boost clock. As reported by VideoCardz, Maxsun seems to be sticking to a Chinese market launch for the moment—the company's international AliExpress store has not been updated with a listing for the range topping Mega Gamer GPU.

Yeston Preparing White PCB Sakura Edition Radeon RX 7800 XT & 7700 XT Custom Cards

Yeston is reported to be returning to an older Sakura cooler design for its forthcoming AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT and 7700 XT custom graphic cards, as well as a new GeForce RTX 4070 model. The Chinese brand continues to distinguish itself from other graphics card manufacturers with bold aesthetics and bright pastel colors, which also extends to its choice of printed circuit boards. The yet-to-be-released Sakura RX 7800 XT & RX 7700 XT models are set to be the first Navi 32 silicon-based cards to sport white PCBs and I/O brackets. The Yeston design team has made adjustments to the original cooling solution's dimensions—the updated Sakura shroud is now longer (by 3.4 cm) and a bit chunkier (refer to their diagram below) with larger cooling fans attached—VideoCardz posits that the "diameter increased from 83 mm to 91 mm."

Yeston has not published full details about specs, pricing or regional availability for their latest RDNA 3 cards—it has been quite difficult to procure their very unique looking cards outside of the company's home base of China, although Newegg has reportedly managed to sell price-inflated stock of older models in North America. We expect to see more information disclosed by Yeston closer to AMD's officially mandated launch date of September 6 for the much needed mid-range Radeon RX 7000-series entries.

AMD Unveils Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT Graphics Cards

AMD today at Gamescom unveiled the Radeon RX 7800 XT and Radeon RX 7700 XT performance-segment graphics cards. Designed for maxed out gaming at 1440p with ray tracing, the two are designed to square off against NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4070 series, offering competitive performance and pricing. The two are based on AMD's latest RDNA3 graphics architecture, and use the 5 nm foundry process where it matters. Both cards claim to offer not just superior performance to the specific NVIDIA RTX 40-series SKUs they're designed to compete with, but also better future-proofing, with more video memory on offer.

At the heart of the two is the new "Navi 32" GPU, AMD's second largest chip from this generation. It is a chiplet GPU, just like the "Navi 31" that powers the RX 7900 series, albeit slightly scaled down. The graphics compute die (GCD), the die with the main graphics rendering and compute machinery, is built on the 5 nm EUV foundry node. It is flanked by four memory cache dies (MCDs), each built on the 6 nm foundry node. These are the same MCDs found in the "Navi 31," but four in number instead of six, which gives the "Navi 32" a 256-bit wide GDDR6 memory interface.

Gigabyte Quietly Launches Low Profile GeForce RTX 4060 Graphics Card

Low profile graphics cards have always been something of a niche market, but they've found homes in many HTPC builds over the years, especially passively cooled cards. Now Gigabyte has launched a rather odd looking low profile NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 based graphics card that simply goes under the name of GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile 8G. The 182 x 69 x 40 (D x H x W) mm card still manages to pack in three fans and requires an 8-pin power connector to work, which somewhat unfortunately plugs in at the rear of the card, although there wouldn't have been too many other locations to place it. This means that this card might not work in some Mini-ITX builds, due to the card being too long once the power connector is plugged in.

The card width should've given away that we're looking at a dual slot card, which is also pretty obvious from the pictures. Gigabyte provides a full height and a low profile bracket with the card, which not all low profile cards have shipped with in the past, so this is a plus. Connectivity wise, the GeForce RTX 4060 OC Low Profile 8G comes with two DP 1.4a and two HDMI 2.1a ports, making this a card well suited for HTPC usage. Gigabyte has even overclocked the GPU from 2460 MHz to 2475 MHz, which seems quite pointless and is unlikely to bring any huge performance advantages over stock clock speeds.

Update Aug 24th: During a recent meeting with Gigabyte we had a chance to go hands-on with their new RTX 4060 Low Profile card, here's some photos.

MSI Arc A310 Low Profile 2X Graphics Card Unboxed in YouTube Short

An MSI Arc A310 4 GB Low Profile 2X graphics card is now available to purchase at a couple of Russian PC hardware retailers (for roughly $140), and a local YouTuber has already produced a quick unboxing video. Intel's board partners have been sluggish in adopting lower-end Alchemist GPU variants, with only a handful of companies bothering to produce cards based on the Arc A310 (DG2-128).

Sparkle displayed an unnamed super compact model at Computex 2023, and presentation slides have recently revealed that their "Industrial Low-Profile" series will be introduced under the GENIE moniker, comprised of single slot/fan A310 and A380 variants. Sparkle has not outlined a possible Western release for these budget cards, and other manufacturers have been reluctant to move beyond the Chinese OEM market. The Gigabyte A3 series is reportedly a Russian market exclusive for the moment, so it will be interesting to see if MSI is only targeting that territory with its competing dual fan design Arc A310 4 GB Low Profile model.

ASUS Intros ProArt GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB Graphics Card

ASUS today introduced the ProArt GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB graphics card series. These cards offer a cooling solution that's essentially the same as the ROG Strix RTX 4060 Ti, but with a more sober product design suitable for design studios. The 16 GB of memory should benefit certain kinds of creator applications with large data sets. Memory size aside, this is essentially the same RTX 4060 Ti, and while for gaming it's a 1080p thru 1440p class product, for creator applications, the GPU should easily suit higher resolutions such as 4K Ultra HD. You can also benefit from the GeForce Studio drivers that offer certification for several key content creation application suites.

There are three sub-variants of the ProArt RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB based on the clock-speeds on offer. The regular one sticks to NVIDIA-reference clock speeds of 2535 MHz with the default BIOS, and 2565 MHz with the OC BIOS. The ProArt RTX 4060 Ti Advanced Edition steps this up to 2580 MHz in the OC BIOS. The top ProArt RTX 4060 Ti OC Edition significantly dials up the clock speeds to 2685 MHz, which is close to that of the ROG Strix O8G. All three cards come with a complimentary 3-month Adobe Creative Cloud subscription.
