Logitech's competitive "G" gaming brand released a short teaser video on Friday (May 19) that alludes to an upcoming next gen product - with a cryptic message: "Built with Pros. Made for you. 05.24.2023." Gaming mouse enthusiasts were quick to leap into speculation mode and predicted that Logitech is set to reveal a successor to the G Pro X (GPX) Superlight (weighing in at 61-63 g) wireless gaming mouse - this model and its (sort of) predecessor 2018's Logitech G Pro Wireless (GPW) have been widely adopted by competitive multiplayer gamers. Others have tempered expectations, and reckon that a new lineup of gaming-oriented headphones is incoming.

A retail listing on China's online shopping platform, Taobao, has seemingly broken Logitech's (intended?) teaser marketing method - leaked images show a new wireless model called "GPRO X Hyperlight," along with an alleged unit weight of 49 grams, a 35K Hero Sensor, an 8 Khz LIGHTSPEED wireless polling rate, and Lightforce hybrid switches. The Taobao page has since disappeared but the information has been preserved and shared on social media and Reddit. Debates have raged about the authenticity of this leak, so the images and spec details should be taken with a grain of salt.

Logitech International announced today that it is partnering with iFixit, a global repair community that sells replacement parts and provides toolkits and repair guides for consumer electronics devices. Logitech is working with iFixit to facilitate the availability of spare parts, support beyond-warranty repair on select products, and develop relevant repair guides to support this repair.

Global electronic and electrical waste (e-waste) is projected to grow to over 75 million metric tons by 2030 according to The Global E-Waste Monitor 2020 Report. Design and repairability will need to go hand-in-hand in order to reduce the amount of e-waste the world generates. The growing e-waste challenge is fueled by higher consumption rates, short life cycles, and few repair options. Expected to be announced later today, Logitech's G Cloud handheld gaming device has been leaked courtesy of Amazon Canada. Although the full specs are yet to be revealed, we now know a lot more about the device. For starters, it'll have a 7-inch 1080p touch screen with 60 Hz refresh rate. The G Cloud weighs in at 463 grams and is said to offer 12 hours plus battery life. Other hardware features include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1 and USB-C connectivity.

On the software side, it appears that the G Cloud runs custom version of Android with support for not only Google Play apps, but also NVIDIA's GeForce Now and Microsoft's Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming services. The G Cloud also supports haptics, remappable controls and it has a built in gyroscope which suggests that the entire device can be used for controlling supported games. According to Amazon Canada, the release date is the 18th of October.

Back in October 2020, Logitech launched the Ultimate Ears UE FITS earbuds, with its unique feature being custom moldable tips. This in itself wasn't something new, but the trick here was that it could be done at home, using built in LEDs in the earbuds that warmed out the gel-like material, something referred to as Lightform Technology. Now it looks like Logitech is about to launch an updated version of the FITS under its Logitech G gaming brand, based on a leak from 91mobiles. The overall design remains the same from what we can tell from the pictures, although we don't know if anything has changed on the inside.

What we do know is that the Logitech G FITS will come with a USB dongle, as well as what looks like a USB-A to USB-C adapter, so the G FITS can be used with both PCs and consoles, in addition to phones and tablets. The UE FITS have dropped significantly in price since launch, as they now retail for around US$179, versus US$249 at launch. We'd expect Logitech to charge slightly more for the G FITS, due to the inclusion of the USB dongle.

While high-end smartphone SoCs pack an incredible amount of graphics processing power, they're expensive; and bringing 5 W-class PC mobile processors to the Console, such as the Steam Deck, limits AAA gameplay capability. Logitech G has a frugal idea for markets with good saturation of Internet—cloud gaming. The Logitech G Gaming Handheld is just that—an Android-based handheld device with a custom UI, a touchscreen, and a gamepad layout similar to a contemporary handheld gaming console.

The idea behind Logitech G Gaming Handheld is that the user has a cool-and-quiet device in their hands that brings Cloud Gaming to them. Logitech doesn't have a cloud-gaming service of its own, but since the device is Android-based, it will hook you up with GeForce NOW, PS Now, Stadia, Amazon Luna, Blacknut, etc. At its core is a Qualcomm G3X-based SoC, a 6.65-inch touchscreen, a conventional gamepad layout, a microSD expansion slot, and audio jack. There's no word on the comms, but it's likely that you get Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Logitech is promising a launch later this year.
