AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D, the 12-core/24-thread Socket AM5 processor that's been playing middle-child to the popular 8-core 7800X3D and 16-core 7950X3D flagship, just got a major retailer price-cut. It can now be had for as low as $499, down from its launch price of $599. The chip could be briefly available last month at $549. The $499 price is available on Newegg, where the chip is listed at $589.99, but with the promo-code "MDSCS2343," that shaves $90 off, you arrive at $499. The Ryzen 9 7900X3D is a 12-core/24-thread processor featuring 3D Vertical Cache technology on one of its two CCDs. The processor hence has 128 MB of L3 cache, besides 1 MB of dedicated L2 cache per core.

Newegg has reduced the asking price for Intel's Arc A750 Limited Edition 8 GB graphics card - this reference model is now available at an all-time low of $199. It is too early to tell whether this a permanent discount or just a seasonal sale - but the online retailer could be reacting (in advance) to the launches of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4060 (in July) and 4060 Ti models, as well as AMD's Radeon RX 7600 GPU lineup later this week.

Team Blue is putting a lot of effort into getting the hardware buying public to adopt its first generation of A-series/Alchemist discrete graphics cards - including the premiere of a slightly bizarre marketing campaign last week, called "Arc Balanced Builds." Intel has been navigating a market long dominated by NVIDIA and AMD, where plenty of folks have welcomed a third player on the field - but the Arc series experienced a much delayed and rough launch process last year. Intel has seemingly committed to next generation graphics technologies, with its Battlemage and Celestial architectures speculated to be in-progress at the company's AXG division.

AMD's cheapest Zen 4 X3D processor is shaping up to be its most popular. Sales numbers from Germany's Mindfactory posted by TechEpiphany seemingly shows the recently launched Ryzen 7 7800X3D outselling last year's Ryzen 7 5800X3D nearly 2:1, with 4,720 7800X3Ds selling to the 5800X3D's 2,510 over a few week period. While these figures show sales for only a single region, evidence for this momentum is reflected in other regional retailers as well as some global outlets. On Amazon, for example, the 7800X3D has made a frequent appearance on the top 10 best selling CPUs list, with the rest of the Zen 4 lineup trailing well behind. Newegg reports the 7800X3D to be among the top 5 best selling CPUs on the site at time of writing. Microcenter also shows the 7800X3D and 5800X3D side-by-side in seventh and eighth places respectively for popularity.

Despite recent troubles with the AM5 platform and Zen 4 X3D processors, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is proving to be quite a success for AMD. The 7800X3D in our review was shown to be one of the most efficient processors we've ever tested, and offered gaming performance at or near the top of the charts across the gauntlet of games and resolutions thrown at it. The staggered release of the 7000X3D lineup, with the 7950X3D and 7900X3D launching first and the 7800X3D launching later, gave early signals that AMD knew what they had and wanted to push as many early adopters away from the better value chip as they could. Pricing for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D has been steady since it released, however we've already seen retailers offering discounts on the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Ryzen 9 7900X3D, as they presumably struggle to sell as well as the more aggressively positioned 7800X3D.

Intel has published its latest blog post, announcing the Intel Arc Balanced Builds, an initiative that pairs up Intel Arc GPUs with Intel Core CPUs, creating balanced configurations that match Intel Arc graphics cards to the "best-fitting" Intel Core CPU. Starting at $423 for the GPU and CPU and $899 for the full system, Intel claims these combinations come from thousands of test runs and hundreds of hours in the lab, leading up to 15,000 datapoints and 22 GB of data.

According to Intel's own testing, which includes a wide variety of Intel Core processors in different configurations and games, there is a perfect CPU range for both its entry level Intel Arc A380 graphics card, as well as the Intel Arc A750 and Arc A770 graphics cards. Of course, for those with a big or unlimited budget, there is always the best configuration that money can buy, but making a balanced build is what makes sense for many others.

The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X has been discounted down to $294.99 in the US, which actually makes it less expensive than the Ryzen 7 7700 (non-X). Since it launched at $399.99 and later pushed down to $329.99, the latest discount makes it quite a catch. In Europe, the price is still holding at around €320, depending on the region, although it has been seen at €309 earlier.

The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X is an 8-core/16-thread Zen 4 CPU with 40 MB of cache and a 105 W TDP. It works at 4.5 GHz base and 5.4 GHz Turbo clocks. As spotted by Videocardz, the discount was available on both Amazon and Newegg but the one on Amazon has either been removed or ended and now holds at $339. It is possible that it was a limited deal coming directly from AMD. The next step is the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, but the price has not budged from $449.

Nextorage Japan is preparing its NE5N range of PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSDs for launch in early June - listings have emerged on Newegg for 2 TB and 1 TB models - with a product page appearing recently on the company's (Japanese language) website. These units boast read and write speeds rated for operation up to 10 GB/s, and are based on Phison's E26 PCIe Gen 5 controller. Nextorage started off as a provider of PlayStation 5-oriented PCIe Gen 4 SSD products, due to company ties to Sony Corporation, but its upcoming NE5N range indicates that it intends to target buyers within the enthusiast PC market.

The initial batch of cutting edge SSDs are unlikely to end up in any PS5 consoles, thanks to a sizable dual formation heatsink - the Japanese company has filed a patent for the bulky two-level structure and heatpipe combination design. Gen 5 SSDs are said to be difficult to tame in terms of heat output, and manufacturers are going to great lengths (and sizes) to provide adequate cooling solutions in advance. Future versions of Nextorage Japan's NE5N NVMe M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 5 SSDs are being refined for compact PCs and laptops, so it will be interesting to find out about the intended thermal tempering for more cramped environments.

As covered on TPU yesterday - Newegg has recently reduced the asking price for AMD's flagship desktop Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor to $629.99. The $70 discount below MSRP represents a 10% saving for keen customers looking to upgrade to some of the best enthusiast silicon available at the moment, but this offer is only available via Newegg's Ebay store. The e-tailer has also (at some point today) rolled out the same percentage cut for the step-down model - Ryzen 9 7900X3D - which brings its price down to $539.99 (originally $599.99) according to the updated Ebay listing.

The 12-core Ryzen 9 7900X3D CPU seems to offer less value in terms of cost per core/thread when compared to its more powerful 16-core sibling ($40/$20) - when taking the (likely temporary) Newegg price cut into account, resulting in a per core price of almost bang on $45 ($22.50 per thread). AMD's Ryzen 9 7900X3D processor has not been reviewed by TPU, but the general consensus seems to be that it gets ignored due to its occupying of the unfavorable middle-ground between the more capable 7900X3D and naturally cheaper 8-core Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The latter has yet to be discounted (across the North American hardware market), so it is possible that Newegg is trying to encourage an uptake of the really expensive models with its latest price offers.

Newegg is selling AMD's top-of-the-range Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU for $629.99 - so $70 below the usual asking price in the USA - although buyers will have to venture onto the e-tailer's Ebay store in order to pick up some fancy 16-core silicon action, Newegg's main site lists the CPU for the regular sum of $699.99. This weekend's sudden discount represents the lowest ever price for Ryzen 9 7950X3D only two months into its product lifespan. According to Ebay's tracking stats (for this particular product page) only four units have sold in the past 24 hours, and that a "limited quantity" of AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPUs are available to purchase.

TPU's February review of this processor was filled with praise (plus awards: Editor's Choice & Innovation), but the high asking price was a point of contention. This weekend's (likely temporary) discount now gives the potential buyer a little bit of extra value - with the CPU's per core price dropping just under $40, and per thread cost being slightly south of $20. AMD's Ryzen 7000X3D series has been through a bumpy batch since late April - some owners have reported hardware burnouts and AMD is currently working on fixes. Buyer perception could have been affected by recent publicity, so it is possible that Newegg is attempting to get some surplus stock out of the door.

The Newegg PC Building Contest finals were held in Taipei, on April 22nd. This isn't a typical e-sports event, or even an overclocking/benchmarking contest, but one with a very simple premise—build an operable PC using the parts of your choice, within a time-limit. The finals saw the top-5 contestants from a pool of 50 make their way to Taipei, and for the final event, the time set was just 1 hour. That seems like an eternity for someone used to building PCs, but this isn't a mom-and-pop Dell you're building—a fully fledged high-end gaming desktop with certain mandatory components to have (although the choice of make of the components is up to you). You're supposed to assemble the desktop and bring it up to an operable state.

Neo Forza became the DDR5 memory and SSD manufacturer of choice for most of the finalists. Three out of five finalists chose Neo Forza Trinity DDR5-7200 memory, and all five of them chose Neo Forza NFP455 NVMe Gen 4 SSD. While the winner put together the build in 37 minutes, the slowest of the five made it in just under the hour. They stated that the build was "stressful" and they never thought it could get so nerve-racking to put together a simple PC. Meanwhile, Neo Forza celebrated its unexpected claim to fame for being the memory vendor of choice among the finalists. "We were humbly overwhelmed as the event, inadvertently, showed Neo Forza as a preferred choice by experienced pro-users for DRAM and SSD in PC builds suitable for gaming, content-creation, streaming and 3D rendering," the company commented.

In the height of the crypto-mining GPU shortage of 2021-22, the Radeon RX 6900 XT and its refresh the RX 6950 XT, were scalped and resold for upward of $2,000. You can get one for as low as $600 on Newegg. The ASRock Radeon RX 6950 XT Phantom Gaming OC is now listed on U.S. retailer Newegg.com at $630, with a coupon code that shaves $30 off, bringing the effective price down to $600, which is the MSRP of the recently announced NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 "Ada."

Our testing shows that the RTX 4070 offers performance on-par with previous-generation RTX 3080 and the Radeon RX 6800 XT. The RX 6900 XT is about 6% faster than the RTX 4070 at 1440p (averaged over our test suite), and the RX 6950 XT from our older reviews is about 6-7% faster than the RX 6900 XT at 1440p. This is, however, performance with raster 3D graphics (which makes up the majority of gaming graphics), the ray tracing performance of the RX 6950 XT is closer to that of the RTX 3070 Ti, or about 23% slower than the RTX 4070. The RTX 4070 is a more efficient GPU, and also offers next-gen features such as DLSS 3 Frame Generation.

AMD is not only doing marketing slides and pulling the VRAM card against NVIDIA ahead of the GeForce RTX 4070 launch, but it is also apparently doing some discounts on its Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, with the Radeon RX 6800 now selling for as low $469.99. As spotted by Tom's Hardware, both the Radeon RX 6800 XT and the Radeon RX 6800 has seen some discounts from various AIB partners earlier, ranging from $30 to $50, and are now selling at $110 below MSRP, making them a decent buy at $539 and $469. To make things even more interesting, these are pretty good custom versions, including the ASRock Radeon RX 6800 XT Phantom Gaming and the Gigabyte Radeon RX 6800 Gaming OC WindForce 3X graphics cards.

Yesterday, the AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT, which was the RDNA 2 flagship, was spotted discounted down to $609.99 by Kyle Bennet, and it was the Phantom Gaming Radeon RX 6950XT from ASRock. The deal is still available over at Newegg.com, and it is the lowest price for the Radeon RX 6950 XT, which is still a great card. The newly launched NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 is still widely available and there are plenty of SKUs to choose from at the MSRP of $599.99.

In what could be a sign of the Radeon RX 7900 XTX dropping to sub-$1,000 price points ahead of the crucial Spring-Summer PC gaming season, the ASRock RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming became the first custom-design card based on the top AMD RDNA3 GPU to drop to a three-figure price of $960, which is well below the $999 baseline price AMD set for this SKU. Board partner co-branded AMD reference-design RX 7900 XTX cards in the market are currently selling below the MSRP, and the ASRock Phantom Gaming joins them as the first custom-design card around the $950-mark, with a $959 listing on American PC hardware retailer Newegg. The RX 7900 XTX is AMD's flagship graphics card, and performs competitively with the GeForce RTX 4080 in the majority of gaming graphics workloads made up of raster 3D, but falls behind on real-time ray tracing, where it performs closer to the previous-generation RTX 3090 Ti.

Newegg Commerce, Inc., a leading global technology e-commerce retailer, announced today that the company is using ChatGPT to improve its customers' online shopping experience. Introduced in November 2022, ChatGPT from OpenAI is a conversational artificial intelligence (AI) program capable of providing information that improves efficiency in myriad situations.

"We're always evaluating our e-commerce technology to ensure we're providing the best customer experience. Through testing, we've proven that ChatGPT has a practical use for Newegg based on the added quality and efficiency it creates," said Lucy Huo, Vice President of Application Development for Newegg. "We deployed ChatGPT to improve content both on-site and off-site to help customers find what they want and elevate their experience. AI doesn't replace employees, but it adds resources so employees are available to handle more complex projects. Prices of the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT RDNA3 graphics card are on a downward slope, with the card now starting at $800 on US computer hardware retailer Newegg. The ASRock RX 7900 XT Phantom Gaming, a custom-design graphics card, has been holding at $799.99 for roughly a week now, while the next cheapest card, an XFX co-branded AMD reference graphics card, is going for $839.99 on the site. These prices put the RX 7900 XT in a direct clash with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. The RX 7900 XT was launched with an AMD MSRP of $899.99, with a performance level that compelled NVIDIA to re-position the RTX 4070 Ti (originally announced as the $900 RTX 4080 12 GB), to $800. In our testing, the RX 7900 XT is about 5% faster than the RTX 4070 Ti in conventional raster 3D graphics, but with a ray tracing performance that's comparable to the previous-generation RTX 3080 Ti.

It looks like Gigabyte might be the first company to offer a PCIe 5.0 SSD for sale to major markets outside of Japan, since no other brand appears to have launched such a product at the time of this news post. The Aorus Gen5 10000 was launched around two weeks ago, but is currently listed as being on backorder at both Newegg and Amazon in the US. Currently only the 2 TB version is listed and it's coming in at about the same cost as two equivalent PCIe 4.0 drives.

We're not sure if the backorder price of US$339.99 on Newegg is the actual retail price, but considering a 2 TB version of WD's Black SN850X costs US$159.99, it doesn't seems like the very slight performance increase the Aorus Gen5 10000 will bring to the table is going to be worth the asking price. Then again, Gigabyte's SSDs are overpriced on Newegg compared to competing products and the Aorus Gen4 7000s Premium, which features the same heatsink as the Aorus Gen5 10000, retails for US$281.99 on Newegg. Amazon didn't list any pricing as yet.

MSI Radeon RX 7900 XTX Gaming Trio Classic, the company's first Radeon 7000 series RDNA3 graphics card, is finally listed online. American retailer Newegg put it up for sale at $1,100, a $100 premium over the $1000 AMD baseline price for the RX 7900 XTX. This is a "sold and shipped by Newegg" listing. MSI showed this card off last month, at the 2023 International CES. It pairs a custom-design PCB with a previous-generation Tri Frozr 2.0 cooling solution—the same one it used with its RX 6950 XT Gaming series. The PCB, however, is an MSI in-house design, with a meaty VRM that draws power from three 8-pin PCIe power connectors, and should hence feature a higher power-limit than the reference-design board, which has been known to scoop out a far greater overclocking headroom on other cards with a similar power setup (such as the ASUS TUF Gaming RX 7900 XTX).

The MSI RX 7900 XTX Gaming Trio Classic comes with clock speeds of 2.30 GHz game, and 2.50 GHz boost, which surprisingly are AMD's reference clocks. Perhaps MSI is saving factory-overclocks for the RX 7900 XTX Gaming X Trio Classic, which it will price even higher. Maxing out the 5 nm "Navi 31" GPU, the RX 7900 XTX offers 6,144 stream processors across 96 RDNA3 compute units, with 96 Ray Accelerators, 384 TMUs, 192 ROPs, and a 384-bit wide GDDR6 memory interface, running 24 GB of memory at 20 Gbps (960 GB/s memory bandwidth).

It's barely been a day, and the $1600-2000 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 "Ada" graphics card is already out of stock in leading US retailers such as Newegg. Either the inventory was barely large enough to last a day; or the scourge of scalping is back to haunt graphics card buyers. NVIDIA is testing a new way of retail for its GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition graphics cards, which it calls "Verified Priority Access." From the looks of it, this is copied from EVGA ELITE Priority Access program; where you reserve a graphics card purchase regardless of it being in stock, and when the reseller is ready with some stock, you're given a position in a queue, with a limited time window in which to complete your purchase and place the order.

NVIDIA Verified Priority Access (VPA) program is only available in a handful markets, and through participating retailers. These include Best Buy (United States), Scan (United Kingdom), NBB (Germany & Netherlands), and LDLC (France, Italy, and Spain). One big catch with VPA is that you should already be owning a GeForce GTX 10-series, GTX 16-series, RTX 20-series or RTX 30-series graphics card; and be signed in with GeForce Experience. When your position in the purchase queue advances or opens up for you to make the purchase, you will be notified through a pop-up in GeForce Experience, from where you'll be taken to a page by the participating online retailer to buy your card.

As with the recent pre-launch listing of 13th Gen Core desktop processors, US retailer Newegg put out listings of various custom-design NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 "Ada" graphics cards, revealing their launch prices. These prices appear close enough to the $1,599 baseline price set by NVIDIA, to conclude that pricing sanity is slowly returning to the graphics card market. A lot will however depend on how the market behaves on October 12, when the RTX 4090 goes on sale; particularly whether scalpers vaporize inventory within minutes. Even if they did, scalpers would only see demand from the niche that actually wants to spend north of $1,600 on a graphics card, there are no crypto-currency miners lining up to buy graphics cards. Especially not after the Ethereum merge.

To illustrate that AIC prices are beginning to appear normal, one needs to look at the pricing of the MSI RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid, supposedly MSI's most premium RTX 4090 product, which is priced at $1,749, or just a $150 premium over the NVIDIA baseline. Several cards such as the ASUS TUF Gaming, GIGABYTE WindForce OC, and MSI Gaming (standard), are listed bang on the $1,599 baseline, while their OC siblings are at a small premium. The ASUS ROG Strix O24G is the most expensive card of the lot, priced at $1,999, or a $400 premium.

Popular American PC parts retailer Newegg just made the store pages of Intel 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake" desktop processors public. You can't add these to cart and order just yet, but can set up an "auto-notify" for when you can buy. The six processor SKUs Intel is expected to launch today have been leaked. The i9-13900K flagship is priced at $659, the i9-13900KF (no iGPU) goes for $629; the i7-13700K at $449, the i7-13700KF at $429; the i5-13600K at $329, and the i5-13600KF at $309. The store pages also give away clock speeds. The i9-13900K/KF ticks at 3.00 GHz base, the i7-13700K/KF at 3.40 GHz base, and the i5-13600K/KF at 3.50 GHz base. The store didn't put out boost clocks.

ASRock's Arc A380 "Alchemist" graphics card is now available for purchase on US retailer Newegg for USD $139.99. The card is sold and shipped by Newegg from the US-based warehouses, and isn't a marketplace listing that imports them from foreign retailers. The ASRock A380 Challenger is a close-to-reference card that runs the A380 at slightly overclocked speeds, draws power from a single 8-pin PCIe power connector, and uses a simple aluminium monoblock fan-heatsink to cool the GPU. Based on the Xe-HPG graphics architecture, the Arc A380 features 1,024 unified shaders, meets DirectX 12 Ultimate API specs (which includes ray tracing), and comes with readiness for the XeSS performance enhancement. The card has 6 GB of GDDR6 memory across a 96-bit memory bus.

The Intel Arc Alchemist A380 desktop graphics card is now available to pre-order in the USA with Newegg listing ASRock's Challenger ITX model for 139.99 USD and shipping from August 22nd. The ASRock Arc A380 Challenger ITX 6GB OC is a custom design featuring a singular cooling fan and a GPU clock speed of 2250 MHz running at a 75 W TDP paired with a single 8-pin power connector. The card features PCIe 4.0 connectivity and 8 Xe-Cores alongside triple DisplayPort 2.0 connectors and a single HDMI 2.0b. The card will compete with the similarly priced NVIDIA GTX 1650 and the AMD Radeon RX 6400 as seen in our review of the GUNNIR Photon Arc A380 model.

Newegg (NASDAQ: NEGG), a leading global technology e-commerce retailer, today announced that it now offers personal laser engraving on both PC cases and custom PC builds. With customization continuing to grow in popularity among e-commerce customers, Newegg's new laser engraving capabilities enable PC users and gamers to make their systems unique to them. AMD's Spring 2022 desktop processor product-stack went live (for the most part). AMD had announced as many as seven new Socket AM4 processor models on March 15. Six of these go on sale today, while the Ryzen 7 5800X3D hits the shelves on April 20. Among the models going on sale today are the Ryzen 7 5700X, an 8-core/16-thread part positioned a notch below the 5800X, and priced at $299; the Ryzen 5 5600 (non-X), a 6-core/12-thread part that's slightly a down-clocked 5600X priced at $199; the Ryzen 5 5500, which is essentially a 5600G "Cezanne" 6-core/12-thread APU with its iGPU disabled and clocked lower; at $159; and a trio of cost-effective Ryzen 4000 series parts based on the Renoir silicon and "Zen 2" architecture, priced under the $150-mark. As of this writing, we see most of these SKUs on sale with US retailer Newegg.

Intel started selling its new flagship desktop processor, the special edition Core i9-12900KS, on Newegg for USD $799. Based on the highest bins of the "Alder Lake-S" C0 silicon, the chip has the same configuration as the i9-12900K, with 8 P-cores, 8 E-cores, and 30 MB of L3 cache; but higher clock speeds. The chip offers maximum Turbo Boost frequencies of 5.50 GHz on the P-cores, compared to 5.20 GHz for the regular i9-12900K. The Newegg listing mentions the i9-12900KS to have the same power limits as the i9-12900K, with 125 W processor base power (PBP) and 241 W maximum turbo power (MTP), and not the previously reported 150 W PBP with 260 W MTP.

Update 20:50 UTC: And the listing on Newegg has vanished, which probably has to do with Intel's embargo ending only next week. Sales are supposedly starting not before April.
