DeepCool Steam Castle Review

A Closer Look - Inside

Simply remove both thumbscrews holding each panel in place to access the Steam Castle's interior. The entire frame has been painted the same color as the exterior. Grab a different color and the interior will still come in black. Remove both panels and you should readily be able to access the interior, which makes connecting all cables and plugging all components in a breeze. As DeepCool has placed all the I/O and its LED / fan dial on the side panel, all the cabling is firmly attached to it as well, which will, as you will see, make assembly a bit more tricky.

You will find two 3.5" trays with the ability to hold 2.5" drives in the front. Moving up, there is a large 200 mm fan. It pushes air across the chassis' entire interior. In the very top are 3.5'' and 5.25" trays, though you only have access to the larger variant from outside of the chassis. DeepCool has left the smaller tray in, so you may use it for an additional 3.5" hard drive if need be.

The PSU bay in the rear is in the bottom, right below the motherboard tray. Little rubber standoffs ensure that the power supply does not pass any vibrations on to the frame. DeepCool has also placed a cage for two 2.5" drives next to the PSU bay to make the most of the space. Above these is the motherboard. It includes the aforementioned 120 mm exhaust fan for a simple push/pull configuration with the fan in the front.

You may install two 120 mm or 140 mm fans into the ceiling, which shouldn't block off the 5.25" bay, although placing a dual radiator there instead would most likely have it get in the way of the bay.

All the cables with the exception of the fan controller's are wrapped in black sleeving. The only special connector is a 4-pin one that connects the LEDs in the top panel with I/O in the side panel.
