It's fully expected, the Rampage IV Extreme is light years ahead of other top motherboards functionality wise (awesome BIOS and OC Key drool) and LOOKS, and if you let me say it, Gigabyte and MSI deserve this because they continue to slap military toyguns, bullets, clothes iron as heatsinks.
And the P9X79 is awesome if you don't need all the RIVE features.

As a current ASUS owner, I'll personally go back to ASUS for more (after one Chaintech, many Abit Boards and one Gigabyte).

But never imagined 70% marketshare in the latest board, that's crazy.

My last 3 boards have been Asus, and reliable,stable and good overclockers they were. I will stick to buying Asus in the future, no reason to change.

Last time i had an p4 msi board, it was a peace of shit...
Other than that, p4 delux was great, p5b delux was awesome and lasted years and years and never failed until i sold it, and now a nice p67 sabertooth that should last a minimum of 5 years...

My next board, probably another sabertooth for the next generation after Ivy, who knows, something like p87...
But before that, i should be able to slap an ivy effortlessly in my current one...

Not surprising at all, Asus has been making excellent mobos forever.

This is kind of surprising, but not really.

With ABIT and DFI long dead to the consumer market, they seem the obvious choice for features, stability, and performance.

My last 5 boards going back to Athlon 64 have been Asus. I've dealt with a lot of other brands doing builds for clients and while some have impressed me on the lower end like Biostar and Asrock, the other "premium" brands have been pretty mediocre.

And most recently they've carried that shit onto their UEFI interface. This I just don't understand. Are the boards designed in Asia? Is this some Asian love of tackiness I just can't understand as a foreigner? The public reaction in "the west" has been very negative to this shit but they don't have any reps with their ear to ground here to take note.

Still drives me nuts what they did with the Assassin 2. The prototype with the green version of the regular sinks was great. A lot of people liked that change from the regular tackiness of that line. Then they just took a big shit all over it. Losing sales over the design of your heatsinks is a sad thing.

Asus is overrated to me

Asus here for ten years or so, ROG when possible. ASRock got me for x79 though. Now Intel needs to release i7 3820 so I can actually do the build. :cool:

yes some are tacky, but don't bring race into this, they are Asian companies, catered to a much larger market in Asia, so why the F wouldn't the boards be designed in Asia? you have to get your head out of the sand and realize that being a "westerner" doesn't somehow make you superior to everyone else. In fact, looking at today's economy -- quite the opposite.

Tacky aesthetics are often regionally defined. Have you never seen house hunters international? If it looks tacky and is designed elsewhere I don't see how it's unnatural to ponder if that's the cause.
