Crytek Takes Aim with Crysis 3 - The First Blockbuster Shooter of 2013
The hunted becomes the hunter! Electronic Arts Inc. and award-winning developer Crytek GmbH, today announced Crysis 3, the premier sandbox shooter experience of 2013. Powered by Crytek's proprietary CryENGINE, Crysis 3 advances the state of the art with unparalleled visuals and dynamic shooter gameplay. Players take on the role of 'Prophet' as he returns to New York, only to discover that the city has been encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. The New York City Liberty Dome is a veritable urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers. Within the Liberty Dome, seven distinct and treacherous environments become known as the Seven Wonders. This dangerous new world demands advanced weapons and tactics. Prophet will utilize a lethal composite bow, an enhanced Nanosuit and devastating alien tech to become the deadliest hunter on the planet.
"Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love," said Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer of Crytek. "Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we're able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game."Set in 2047, Prophet is on a revenge mission after uncovering the truth behind Cell Corporation's motives for building the quarantined Nanodomes. The citizens were told that the giant citywide structures were resurrected to protect the population and to cleanse these metropolises of the remnants of Ceph forces. In reality, the Nanodomes are CELL's covert attempt at a land and technology grab in their quest for global domination. With Alien Ceph lurking around every corner and human enemies on the attack, nobody is safe in the path of vengeance. Everyone is a target in Prophet's quest for retribution.

Also, if these SS are the best graphics they managed to pull......... not looking good... I mean... it does look nice, but after crysis 1 I really expected a lot more from latter releases from Crytek regarding to graphics
Crytek has just said that they want to move back to open world exploration, which is a huge step in the right direction.
They follow this up with the statement that there will be 7 environmental levels (jungle, lava, ice, .... I'd imagine), weapons unlocked by buying the initial game at a higher price, and finally stating that the "advanced" weapon that will be used is a composite crossbow. What?
I realize that EA will be the distributor, and leaking this information will help with the Mass Effect PR disaster, but why would you tell people anything more than "we're going back to our sandbox roots?" The rest of this statement basically says "we listened to some of what you said about the second, but still decided to sledgehammer in concepts from other successful games, despite not fitting the developed continuity, anyways. You're all idiots who will buy this game anyways...."
I really hope that I'm proven wrong, but even Crytek has to answer to EA. No matter how good the creative team, EA's goals kill franchises far more often than they improve them.
Anyway looking forward to it as I like the story.
Have not played Crysis 2 though so if that is what you are referring to then I dont know :S
The suit isolates and contains the alien virus when you contract it, why didn't it do that to Prophet?
And didn't we wipe out all the ceph in NYC already?
CryTek, please make our hardware beg and cry for showing the Windows Desktop instead of your demanding game.
Also, Crysis 1 on console is a joke compared to it on PCs. Probably that's why you chose a more simple and closed scenario like New York for Crysis 2. You could have changed city for Crysis 3. And I hope seeing a lot of foliage on the PC version. More visual complexity. Feel that your screen is full of things, that the environment is covering you.
Mix that with some 3D and I think it would be a great experience. Think of Avatar, but better.
And the virus... I wondered the same thing, but remember Prophet had been in the alien tube things exploring and such. He may have just gotten too high of an exposure for the suit to filter out all at once perhaps too.
