NVIDIA Outs WHQL-certified GeForce Drivers for Windows 8.1 Preview

NVIDIA released some of the first WHQL-certified drivers for Windows 8.1 Preview, with its WHQL-signed GeForce drivers that are WDDM 1.3 compliant. Labeled GeForce 326.01 WHQL, these drivers cover all GeForce GPUs since 6-series, across desktop and notebook platforms separately (separate drivers for desktop and mobile GPUs). In its release notes, NVIDIA didn't list out any changes to the version from previous versions, but mentioned support for even the latest GeForce GTX 760 graphics card, so the support list is up to date.

Dude, look at the "supported products" section for this driver. It supports GPUs all the way back to the GF 8 series [inclusive].

Been running this for a few days on 7. So far so good but needs more flash testing. A proper release for everyone is supposed to be out on monday. Or now for some reason.

When they say 6 series and up they mean the Geforce 6000 series. Unlike AMD, nVidia doesn't drop support for their products after 2 years.

Just to be clear, this isn't the fix for 320.18, is it? That's supposed to come out in a week or so, correct?

There is no "fix" for 320.18, 320.18 doesn't require fixing.

Umm, that's not what a ton of users on various forums say....it has serious fan control and overheating issues.

And yet not a single serious news source has actually reported a problem or been able to reproduce any of the claimed issue. Sorry, a few random people in forums blaming their card's death on a driver that is working fine for million's of people is not an actual issue. In fact none of the "problems" can actually be reproduced. If it has serious fan control problems why does no one have any actual evidence of fan issues? There isn't a single screen shot of a GPU overheating or the fan running too slowly. If there was an actual issue the driver would have been pulled a long time ago.

I'm sorry, but Nvidia dropped driver updates for the GF 6 and 7 series a while ago (at the end of 2012, IIRC). And this driver doesn't support those either. The last driver series to support GF 6 & 7 was 304.xx

Check the support list for this driver and try again: www.nvidia.com/object/windows-8-solutions.html

This was linked to in the original post.

Also, previous to this release the Geforce 6 series received a WHQL driver back in February(307.83).

Edit: Wait, that isn't the support list for this specific driver, BTA made that kind of confusing and was also wrong in saying these drivers support all the way back to the 6 series because they don't. It seems this driver doesn't support the Geforce 6 series or 7 series. But still, support didn't end in 2012, AFAIK they haven't officially announced they have dropped support for the Geforce 6 series, and they have released new drivers in 2013 for these card.

None the less, the original question has been answered, when they say Geforce 6 series, they mean Geforce 6000. The GTX600 series is called the Geforce 600 series, so his GTX560 still has many years of support ahead.

I am sorry yet again, but that the list of GPUs supported for Win8, with undefined driver versions. It's NOT the list of GPUs supported by 326.01

THE List of supported GPUs for 326.01 is here. I don't see GF 6 and GF 7 here.

newtekie1This was linked to in the original post there slick.
Yes, I know it was. But as noted above, it's not what You think it is.

The last driver to support GF 6 & 7 is 307.74
imageshack.us/a/img18/8738/tlev.png

And OH SNAP that is still 304 driver series.

P.S.:
NvidiaLegacy Support Notification: GeForce 6-series and GeForce 7-series GPUs will be moved to legacy support after GeForce R304 drivers (304.xx to 309.xx). GeForce R310 drivers will not support these products.
Edit: OH DANG finished writing this a bit after You edited Your post. Sorry. =]

Duh~! But this mistake looked funny to me for some reason. Felt like: "And today, Nvidia announces a new CPU architecture aimed at 62 bit data and addresses." Man, the thought of that simply cracked me up

newtekie1No, its 307.83: www.geforce.com/drivers/results/57492

But anyway, I admitted I was wrong(or rather BTA was wrong and I was wrong for repeating him), and the question has been answered, so we can move on.
Well, we were talking about Win8. For Win8 the last one was 307.74, the 307.83 is for for Win7 and Vista only :)

And sorry man. My tone was way too harsh, I admit that. I am really sorry.
I'm still on edge after yesterday when I was answering a countless stream of silly questions from various lusers. (or more like, pointing out how their questions itself were wrong.)

In that sense, every driver need fixing then. But you know what we were talking about, and it wasn't minor bug fixes, but you just want to troll.

I can confirm that SLI now works in Surround on Z87 based boards now, at least that was fixed from the previous release ;)
