NVIDIA Gives Away "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" to GeForce GTX TITAN-X Owners

NVIDIA is giving away game codes to "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," to new and existing owners of GeForce GTX Titan X graphics cards, provided they simply install and "beta test" GeForce Experience. To participate, all GTX Titan X owners need to go is install the latest GeForce Experience, and the latest GeForce drivers, and then click on a "redeem rewards" button in the app, and follow these steps to get a Steam key to the game. The company is already giving away the game with new purchases of GeForce GTX 960, GTX 970, GTX 980, and notebooks with GTX 970M and GTX 980M graphics.

Why do I feel this is a sad attempt at a bribe? What I mean is the forums are alive with the whole Nvidia Gameworks fiasco in Witcher 3 (personally, I have a Kepler, and game plays just fine, so I'm not upset. Many are though). So, this appears to be some goodwill act, to at least get Maxwell owners (many of whom also own Keplers and older) to feel warm and fuzzy for them.

I don't think it's a bribe. I believe it's more of a result of feedback from angry Titan X users to NVIDIA who paid a large amount of money for a card with no game attached as a promotion. I believe NVIDIA has properly responded to the feedback with this solution.

Ok, that's another way to look at it. Sounds plausible though.

Anandtech has quite plausible theory for this.
Finally, the fact that NVIDIA is testing a new redemption system signals an interesting shift in how future game bundles may work. While NVIDIA has not commented on this bundle so far – in fact they haven’t even announced it on GeForce.com yet – I suspect what we’re looking at is a beta test for how NVIDIA intends to distribute all bundles in the future. A distribution system through GeForce Experience not only increases the user base for that software, but more importantly it smooths over some of the logistics of bundling games. Retailers would no longer need to distribute vouchers, and based on NVIDIA’s description of how the bundling system works, it looks like this could shut down the grey market for reselling bundle redemption codes as well.

To clarify, the game giveaway is not valid in all countries, having just received a GTX960, there was no code offer in Australia, so if anyone feels generous I would love to try it.
The same card from Newegg America, the parent company has the code listed in the offer.

Sounds like a sweetener before they drop the 980Ti bomb on em, pretty much what they did on us OG Titan owners with the 780 ;)

Not falling for it twice <3

I just had to install the latest geforce experience and then update the drivers (rebooted because geforce experience always hangs on the 3d vision driver install). Then the icon showed up. clicked it, it gave me a key. Entered it into the geforce site to redeem... then got out of stock message with an entry to email me when it's back in stock.

edit: apparently the key does not get used since it's out of stock. I tried again, and it didn't say my key was used.. it just repeated the same process of it being out of stock and to register an email to notify me when it's back in stock.

Digital CD keys out of stock, wow. The last time I heard of that happening was years ago with Borderlands on one of the first Steam Summer Sales. :wtf:

Nvidia may have not bought enough keys or they just don't have them ready to use now.

"Due to a very large number of fraudulent transactions coming in, we have had to disable the gifting option for three items: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Expansion Pass, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game + Expansion Pass.We are working to clarify the problem and prevent further fraudulent transactions from being made.We will make gifting possible once more as soon as this issue is resolved."

Redeemed the code and gave it away to a fellow TPU member.
Personally, it felt like a slap in the face from Nvidia. Why Witcher 3 ? WHY WHY WHY!!!

Sorry for my little rant, I just don't like Witcher 3 very much, not my type of game, and thus, a useless offer from Nvidia for me.

Maybe next time they should offer 2 titles and you can only select 1.
