It is said that Gigabyte was very disappointed with the interest in X299. They were having a look at various "famous" Youtubers, comparing views between their X399 Giga mobo videos and their X299 (Giga) mobo videos.
The difference was.. vast, lol.. the interest for AMD's 399 was significantly higher everywhere.
Hence these cool(tm) offers on the 299s. Gotta make them attractive somehow.
(because we have fanboys, no, i doubt it was Giga [ie that Asus saw the opposite in their viewings], yes, it obviously was because of the 299 platform's 'meh' factor)

wish they implement thermal armor some day !
Regards,
How can one pass judgement on a product that has been out for two days and already have this experience pack ready to go? Cant say this lack of intrest you say gigabyte feels has a chance to exist yet...
Was that just made up? Lol!
Are you a hardcore fanboy? Answer me that first please.
edit: or rather, nevermind, others are reading too, so i may as well reply.
I said that their impression, based on the views and general interest on the 299 platform, was that it paled, significantly, compared to AMD's 399. Significantly enough for them to be concerned, to be resorting to special offers so as to promote the 299s.
edit: i also said that this is a rumor going round, that is to be taken as such with a grain of salt.
You need not tell us that (obviously) your impression is different.
However, you could perhaps tell us where and how you've had all those 399 available "for months now". That you could help us with. Hell, maybe you could mail us a couple if you have lots of them.
Just wondering how judgement is passed on something not released (originally i thought you made a typo and talking about released boards/chipsets - perhaps im still misunderstanding?).
Its a rather curious post, particularly without any support. Where did you read this??
Anyway, this isn't about judgement. This is about perceived interest, ergo possible future sales.
The rest you still need explain to us.
I don't think we find it hard to communicate with each other... but you should figure out to edit posts instead of double posting. :p
Had i edited the previous one, you might or might not have seen it, as there was a time gap. This way, i knew you would.
And there is something to explain: You said 399 mobos have been available for months. I asked where from and whom to, as the rest of us sure as hell don't have them available.
In regard to my original post, not seeing the point is something you're entitled to. Phrasing it in a way that paints the poster (me) in a negative manner? That's something entirely different.
Most especially since the post clearly warned about 'rumor' (ie no trolling, no bashing agends, etc).
Forget it.. this is tiresome and not worth the finger movements to continue. But thanks for the sidetrack about released/unreleased chipsets and how they were rumored (thanks for the link to the rumor!) perceived in a thread about a specific motherboard! That was fun! :p
