EA Reveals Official PC System Requirements for Battlefield V Closed Alpha

With Battlefield V's Closed Alpha already in progress, EA has revealed the official system requirements for PC users. The company emphasized that the specifications only apply to the Closed Alpha and may vary in the final game. The minimum system requirements are more or less in line with the preliminary requirements we reported last month. According to the Battlefield V website, the minimum system requirements include a Core i5-6600K or AMD FX-8350 processor, 8 GB of memory along with a GeForce GTX 1050 / GTX 660 or a Radeon HD 7850 graphics cards. The recommended system requirements bump the processor up to a Core i7-4790 or Ryzen 3 1300X processor along with 12 GB or 16 GB of memory. In terms of graphics power, EA recommends a GeForce GTX 1060 or a Radeon RX 480. As expected, the game requires 50 GB of storage space and a 512 KBPS or faster connection to the internet.
Minimum requirements:
  • Operating System: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10
  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX-8350
  • Processor (Intel): Core i5-6600K

  • DirectX version: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Internet: 512 KBPS or faster, stable Internet connection
  • Free hard-drive space: 50 GB
Recommended specifications:
  • Operating System: 64-bit Windows 10
  • Processor (AMD): AMD Ryzen 3 1300X
  • Processor (Intel): Intel Core i7 4790 or equivalent
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM / 12 GB RAM
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon RX 480 4 GB

This alpha is eating my gtx 970 up. Dips below 60 and even 50 are fairly common. 4790K is getting a good workover too, maybe time to OC this thing finally.

my thought exactly... min. required 6-core. Game can't split load to more then 1... :/

WTF are you talking about? Do you even have it? stop talking out your ass, Frostbite of course it is muli-threaded...

Here is my afterburner screenshot in mid match. My 4790K is getting hammered on all threads. Consistent spikes to 99%, someone in game said their 2700X is at 25%.

Recommended is ok but Minimum is complete BS. 6600K is heads and shoulders above FX as is GTX 1050 above 7850. So how come to play at minimum settings you need a much more up to date system if you own Intel+Nvidia compared to AMD+AMD?

CounterSpellhow do i get invited to play the closed alpha?
Apparently through pre-ordering the game, but I didn't get an invite :(
Friend of mine did though.

Must be fun to download 50GB over a 512K connection though...

Why? They are both 4C8T CPUs for recommended and its Haswell versus 1st gen Ryzen which has similar IPC. We know for years now that Frostbite is well threaded... these are the most accurate rec specs Ive seen in years

Lol. As others have said, anyone who has played a BF game since I believe BF3 would tell you BF multiplayer loves more cores and uses them well.

It's an invite-only closed alpha for now (they could always open it up). They sent out keys yesterday. It's random. I didn't pre-order, nor am I active on their forums/community and I got a key. And it's a 10GB download but even that would suck over that connection.

Haven't gotten a chance to try it out yet, only messed with the options so far. I should be able to try it tonight.

Ouch. Temps here are a tad higher than normal. GPU under water was at 60 degrees. All 8 cores in use above 50% easy. Played at 4k and was on about 45-70fps, probably averaging 50-55?

Seemed okay for an alpha.

Do not need to pre-order for a key... please DO NOT PRE ORDER FOR A KEY...like moob said, it is 10GB not 50GB...

If I look back on Techpowerup GPU reviews and their charts, a GTX 1050 may be around 10% faster than a 7850, so not a huge difference. And if you consider BF1 was running better on AMD GPUs, it's not a big deal.

It runs ok here on 3570k@4.5 and GTX970@1433 , I just cap the fps at 70 and I get pretty smooth play, I do dip at times to 60's.
I have mixed high and med settings.
It does run lower fps than BF1 but it runs not bad for alpha.

if an FX CPU can run this, so can an i5 2500

What is with these companies and their bizarre CPU recommendations, is it based on what they had in the office that day?

You would be surprised how well a FX 8350 can be once a game takes full use of all 8 threads/cores, it really does come down to the game though. I put my FX 8350 and GTX 970 vs my mates I7 7700 and GTX 1060 in the new Final Fantasy benchmark and we scored practically the same. Battlefield from what I remember not that I play there games uses alot of threads so this sorta makes sense to me.

It depends on the resolution. You play at 1080p right? The way I see it, if you dropped a 1070/1080 into your rig, I'm guessing that those CPU usage numbers would most likely be much different.

I dropped my old HD 5850 into my system temporarily and it was actually able to play Black Ops 3, albeit close to a slideshow, but running nonetheless!! I think as long as a hardware component (CPU/GPU) isn't too outside of it's generation and has the same architecture, there's always possibilities that newer games might still play on them.

The Frostbite engine, is as stated well written fro Multi-thread support, and also it can run on DX12 properly, in which case the 7850 does run better in DX12.

I definitely can play this game. Just gonna stick to all High, no MSAA & 1080p for that smooth 60fps. Min requirement is kinda silly IMO... also, this is for alpha build of the game, so this isn't exactly a finalized requirement sheet. I may be wrong, but there's a likelihood the requirements may get revised again for the final build of the game.

The i5-6500k is almost on par with the 4790 for gaming. The Ryzen 1300x clearly falls behind both chips and the FX 4 module / 8 thread series is far in the distance to all three even for multi threaded games.

I'm positive if I put a GTX 1080 in my PC that my CPU would be pegged at 100% trying to stay caught up.

In third world countries maybe.
16Gb is pretty much the norm in new systems and the size of sticks keeps increasing.
