Microsoft Acknowledges Windows 10 Taskbar Text Clarity Issue

Microsoft has recently acknowledged the blurry text issue encountered with the News and interests button in the taskbar. The issue was introduced with update KB5001391 and affects users with certain monitor configurations. This can affect users running Windows 21H1, 20H2, 2004, and 1909 and Microsoft has confirmed that they are working on a solution to be released in a future update. The only "solution" currently available is to disable the News and interests text and icon.
MicrosoftAfter installing KB5001391 or later updates, the news and interests button in the Windows taskbar might have blurry text on certain display configurations.

Certain display configurations, I have it in 1080p 100% DPI.

Microsoft, at least test the basics.

Hah, jokes on them. I'm still using classic shell, been over 5 years on Win10, and more including Win 8.1. I'm not moving away from the Win7 menu, ever.

To be honest I didn't even notice it and I use a 4K TV with a one meter diagonal.

Noticed this with the latest update. I added a blurry weather widget to the bottom right my taskbar. Running at 1080p so yeah this doesn't bode well for Windows 11 if easy stuff like this is getting past QA.

Instantly disabled it. I have rainmaker widgets to that presents me more info while chilling in the corner of my screen and being unobtrusive.

Im hearing some talk about the update was built upon the old 'cortana' platform that used code from internet explorer for all the news tiles when you clicked on it.

The News and Interests 'feature' needed to be offered, and opt-in.

Rather, we have a defaulted-on toolbar which takes up valuable taskbar space, and looks trashy.

Instantly disabled it org-wide and across my personal systems.

Not surprised, add defects to win10 so they can be hyped as fixed in win11. :kookoo::p

1440p 100% DPI and blurry as hell here. What on earth did they test it on? 1024x768 perhaps?

No issues on my system with my Acer Nitro XV272U 2K (2560x1440) monitor at standard 100% display scaling. It seems to me that anything that's outside of the norm, you're probably going to have issues which lends credence to the idea that they can't possibly test for every single hardware configuration there is out there in the world.

Still working on my end.

The text is sharp for me and I use 2x 4K screen at at 150% scaling. 1x 32" and 43" screens.

I have that news crap disabled anyway as it takes up too much space.

It is very stupid and annoying, suddenly I found the damn thin on my PCs, fortunately they made it easy to remove.

What about the thing that I never turned it on in the first place and it is on by default.

It’s just one of the many problems with the new feature. Performance and scroll are terrible, and customization can’t be saved to your MS account unless you use that MS account as your user profile in the OS.

I thought this was an instant turn off. The solution by Microsoft is highly recommended, permanently.

Is there anyone out there that hasn't done that yet?

It's amazing how upset people get about their local weather in the taskbar, that they can easily remove.

I don't mind having the weather shown on the taskbar, it's quite useful. Not interested in the other features though.

How does stuff like this even make it out of QA? Sloppy.
