Intel Core i9-12900KS Starts Selling on Newegg for $799

Intel started selling its new flagship desktop processor, the special edition Core i9-12900KS, on Newegg for USD $799. Based on the highest bins of the "Alder Lake-S" C0 silicon, the chip has the same configuration as the i9-12900K, with 8 P-cores, 8 E-cores, and 30 MB of L3 cache; but higher clock speeds. The chip offers maximum Turbo Boost frequencies of 5.50 GHz on the P-cores, compared to 5.20 GHz for the regular i9-12900K. The Newegg listing mentions the i9-12900KS to have the same power limits as the i9-12900K, with 125 W processor base power (PBP) and 241 W maximum turbo power (MTP), and not the previously reported 150 W PBP with 260 W MTP.

Update 20:50 UTC: And the listing on Newegg has vanished, which probably has to do with Intel's embargo ending only next week. Sales are supposedly starting not before April.

What you might not know is after Newegg shipped everyone’s 12900ks cpus out they decided to go back to there old ways and they contacted ups to have all packages intercepted and shipped back to there warehouse. They didn’t inform any of the buyers what was going on and still haven’t. I personally experienced this yesterday and when I contacted customer support they had no idea what was going on, and refused refund until they received there product back to the warehouse. Great job again Newegg

TheDeeGeeWho's crazy enough to buy from newegg after GNs video though?
In America, places to purchase are drying up. We use to have multiple online places to purchase parts from, now we got Newegg, Microcenter, and almost always overpriced Amazon. With that said, I've been rocking with Newegg since 2005 and will continue to do so. I can only hope Newegg learns from their mistake because if they go under, all I'll have is punk ass Amazon. /sigh

Newegg now is a Chinese owned company, its no longer the same newegg from 2005, the name is the same, but the business is entirely different, as are the shady business practices. At least with Amazon, refunds work.

You're right, much better to buy from the multi billion dollar corporation amazon that abuses its employees and has a huge issue with fake products and bogus sellers........oh wait.

OK, well how about best buy who locks products behind subscription paywall.....hmmm.

Well there's always microcenter, I mean who doesnt like driving 600 miles to buy computer parts right?

Then again you could always go through your local computer store, assuming you dont live in america or west europe where they only gouge you 390%. That's a viable alternative, right?

Anti-Trust laws cant do much if people just stop building new alternatives. Anybody could build an alternative to newegg, amazon started off as a book seller after all. Its just....nobody wants to do it anymore. When is the last time you heard of a new PC part website opening up?

GRanted you see this in every industry today. The days of fred meijer, the dodge brothers, and sam walton ended 70 years ago, now its the era of the onlyfans camgirl and the minecraft streamer.

Not so satisfying price. Perhaps it will drop a bit in time. It should, considering MOBO prices.

For reference, the 12900K is $ 800.79. It's a 25% premium for the 12900KS down here.

Pretty easy to see sold by Newegg vs Scalpers. I hope that message informed someone else on this forum.

As I stated, I haven't any problems with refunds (knock on wood). The only time I had an issue was trying to return some RAM back to Newegg and customs rejected my package (from Germany) and sent it back to me. I wasn't going to pay for shipping twice. Now that is the one thing I do like from Amazon Prime - free returns.
