This Week in Gaming (Week 23)

Welcome to the first week of summer, at least in the northern hemisphere. There are no AAA releases this week, which gives you all plenty of time to focus on our Computex content instead of playing a new blockbuster game. This week's major release involves aliens, but not as you know them and they're out to kill. The rest of this week's new releases involves a DLC for a major MMORPG, a politics, religion and war game, some really old stuff, a nuclear plant meltdown cleanup and a dead dragon.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game / This week's major release / Tuesday 4 June
Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror based on the iconic '80s film. In the battle between Killer Klowns and citizens of Crescent Cove, team up and use your wits to harvest humans or save them from the alien invasion! Crescent Cove is a sprawling arena for unique 3v7 fights between Klowns and humans—boasting various locations and a multitude of tactical opportunities for both teams. Steam link
The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road / This week's DLC / Monday 3 June
A forgotten Daedric Prince has returned, bringing chaos to West Weald! Explore a new zone and defend the city of Skingrad, now beset by a dangerous Daedric cult and the jungles of Valenwood. Customize your skills like never before with the new Scribing system. Steam link
Field of Glory: Kingdoms / Tuesday 4 June
Politics, religion, war. They are nothing without a legacy that can stand the test of time. Lead any nation, and turn it into a mighty kingdom in one of the most compelling grand strategy games ever created. Steam link
The Ancients / Wednesday 5 June
The Ancients is a turn-based survival strategy game where you lead a prehistoric hunter-gatherer tribe through the last ice age. Survive the elements, hunt fierce animals, migrate to new continents, advance your technology, make social and political tribe decisions, and evolve your civilization. Steam link
Chornobyl Liquidators / Thursday 6 June
Chornobyl Liquidators is not a fantastic tale of exploring the Zone. It's a story about real people facing a real threat—the CNPP disaster. Invisible radiation, KGB, difficult moral choices... Do you have enough courage and strength to take on this challenge? Steam link
Dragon Is Dead / Early Access / Friday 7 June
Dragon is Dead is a hack-and-slash, roguelite action platformer. It offers tons of customization fun with different character skill trees and legendary equipment. Overcome repeated deaths to defeat Guernian, the leader of the Dark Dragons. Steam link

You used to live there?

What's it like during Computex? Even more crowded? Other events going on?

Uhm, yeah... For like 14+ years...

It's crazy busy during Computex, although it all used to be in the Xinyi shopping district area around the Taipei 101, now 95% of the show is out in Nangang, which means it doesn't disrupt life for the locals as much. Taitra (the organisers) run some other weird shows at the same time like InnoVEX these days, which is supposed to be for start-ups, but no-one really cares.
