This Week in Gaming (Week 35)

Welcome to the end of August and this week, we have a bunch of new releases for your perusal. This week's AAA release allegedly has something to do with criminals in a galaxy far far away. The remaining releases this week contain some other big releases as well and the week starts off with a post-apocalyptic survival city builder, which is followed by you waging war as a god, if that's what you're into. If big flying robots are your thing, then there's a game for you this week, alternatively we have a game for those that prefer fast cars. The week ends on a bit of a slower note with a Japanese action-RPG and an office RPG or sorts.

Star Wars Outlaws / This week's AAA release / Friday 30 August
Experience the first-ever open world Star Wars game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Explore distinct locations across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Risk it all as Kay Vess, a scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy's crime syndicates as you join the galaxy's most wanted. Not on Steam, but available on uPlay and EGS. Gold Preorder ($110) gets headstart on Tuesday
Endzone 2 / Monday 26 August / Early Access
Endzone 2 is a post-apocalyptic survival colony builder, where you embark to secure humanity's survival after a cataclysmic disaster. Discover and repopulate the last habitable grounds, while the survival of your people hinges on your wits, foresight, and resilience in a harsh and unforgiving world. Steam link
Smite 2 / Tuesday 27 August / Early Access
Choose your God from across mythology and wield unique godly abilities. Hurl bolts of lightning as Zeus, master the arcane powers of death as Anubis, or backstab your foes as Loki. No other game offers combat that feels like your favorite hero shooter, crossed with the deep strategy you can only find in a 5v5 MOBA. Feel the impact of every shot, sneak up on enemies, and combo abilities with teammates to take down the enemy Titan. Steam link
Gundam Breaker 4 / Wednesday 28 August
Create your own ultimate Gundam in the newest Gundam Breaker! With more customizable parts than ever before, you finally have the freedom to build your perfect Gunpla. Test it in battle using the brand new dual-weapon system and break parts off of your enemies and add them to your collection. Steam link
CarX Street / Thursday 29 August
Conquer mountain roads, highways, and city streets. Build your dream car with detailed tuning that unleashes the potential of "CarX Technology" physics. Take part in thrilling races, enjoying realistic gameplay and dynamic driving. Steam link
Visions of Mana / Thursday 29 August
Visions of Mana is a brand new title in this series revolving around the sacred sword and mana. The protagonist Val and his childhood friend Hinna, the newly appointed Alm of Fire, set off on a journey to the Mana Tree. This game's iconic vibrant and vast semi-open field contains adorable yet ferocious monsters, allowing you to enjoy swift three-dimensional battles using the power of the Elementals. Steam link
Dale & Dawson Stationery Supplies / Friday 30 August
Dale & Dawson Stationery Supplies plunges you into the heart of an early 2000s office drama where your role, be it a Manager, a Specialist, or a Slacker, is randomly assigned at the game's outset. Set within the confines of a seemingly typical stationery company, players are thrust into a covert battle of productivity versus procrastination. Steam link

As a Star Wars fan, I'll wait until Outlaws goes on a DEEP discount to take a look. Still haven't played Squadrons yet that I got for free, and haven't picked up Jedi Survivor. The Steam Library backlog never ends...

colossusrageblackI would've been more interested in Star Wars Outlaws if there was more of an RPG aspect to it, in terms of having a custom character. To me, unless the character you're forcing me to play is well known or somehow vital to the story, let me pick who I am and what I look like. It seems to me that for a game like this, there's really no reason to force the player to be this one character.
I do not understand why RPGs have gone away from this mechanic.

_roman_I do not get the point advertising for something which can not be obtained. I just clicked on one game "Endzone 2". Preorder. Not finished. I just played recently a free giveaway - called "Surving the AFtermath". That endzone looks nearly identical.

Ubisoft / Star wars -> annoying launcher / commercial boring topic -> Ubisoft should start fixing their exisitng games and their exisiting launcher which bareley works on Windows 11 Pro. Some games are lost - just deactivated. I'm not in the mood to pay for something which is deactivated later. I paid for something which can not be played anymore.
Endzone 2 is available on Steam and perfectly playable.

Surviving the Aftermath is a copy of "Endzone" asked by Paradox Interactive. Not the other way around.

LaurijanBang for buck is Ubisoft+ Premium 1 month subscribtion to play it in best version 3 days early
That's what they're probably trying to force us to do by increasing the game's price to a ridiculous amount.

The price of new Games makes me appreciate my Humble Choice subscription that much more.

The price of new games makes me appreciate my roughly 600-long Steam library full of old classics. :)

I am in a beating old games from my backlog streak. SW Outlaws I still had to put inbetween.

I'll probably get Outlaws on a massive discount one day. The characters in it look trash, the story is basic AF, and the gameplay is mostly a badly executed stealth thing that doesn't make my mojo flow a single bit. That little pet companion thing looks cute, but that's it.
