Backed this Project back on 10-10-12 for the hopes of a sprawling Wing Commander experience.
12yrs later. NADA
You got Mark Hamill from Wing Commander III. Damn, that was exactly 30 years ago. Also 30 years since we've got another awesome cast for a space game.

erockerSquadron 42 was on the Kickstarter and got them funded. It was the reason I funded it in 2012.
I think I did the lowest tier, so I won't get Squadron 42, only my $25 ship, not sure. Good riddance to all of it though is what I say.

Aaand the PTU version does the same thing, error. Also, PTU is down suddenly. I suppose they're working real hard.

Looks like the 'free' AMD bundle included Squadron 42 as well. It's been about a month shy of 10 years.

Looks like I can play if it ever releases before I die.

A couple of things I've noticed about Star Citizen/Squadron 42:

1. Whenever it is discussed, the apologists come out in droves, defending the never ending production of these projects. They truly believe in the project, many claim to enjoy the game now. However, it seems they are suffering from some kind of sunk cost fallacy logic or Stockholm Syndrome/Trauma Bonding type of psychosis.

2. I tried the game several months ago when they let you play for about a week for free. I gave an entire Saturday to it, and I found it lacking significantly. The idea of the game is very interesting, but it's nowhere near done. It reminded me a lot of Starfield, like seriously, sit them side by side and it is hard to really discern significant differences. The biggest difference to me was that Starfield at least felt like a somewhat polished game that was playable and just worked. The problem with Starfield is that it is rather shallow as an experience and there are way too many loading screens. Star Citizen has far more potential, but Cloud has yet to get the basic game mechanic, gameplay, and functionality near completion.

3. Every so often, maybe when the funding starts to slow down, Cloud Imperium releases a trailer and gives a date/year when Squadron 42 will release, it's usually two years from the current date, but as that date nears they push it another two years. Regardless, it does one of two things, either the apologists get excited and dump more money into the game, or new suckers are brought into the fray after seeing the exciting trailers.

4. As long as the apologists keep handing Cloud money, the projects will probably never finish.

5. Every trailer announcement or showcase, shows off all of the features they've added, but it makes you wonder, why haven't they fixed the basic things yet? They keep adding features, but the base game is still in shambles.
