Intel Rumored To Launch Three 8-Core 11th Generation Tiger Lake-H CPUs

Intel announced their 11th Generation Tiger Lake-H processors for high-end gaming laptops at CES 2021. The three models announced are now shipping in slim gaming machines and target the AMD Ryzen 5000H series processors. The Intel models compete favorably in single-core performance but only feature four cores and eight threads while the Ryzen 5000H series processors include up to 8 cores and 16 threads giving them the clear advantage in multi-core performance.

Intel is planning to close this performance gap with the launch of three new 45 W 8 core 11th Generation H-series processors in Q2 2021 with a possible announcement at Computex. The three models include the unlocked Core i9-11980HK, Core i9-11900H, and the Core i7-11800H along with the Core i5-11400H with six cores. These new processors will compete directly with the Ryzen 9 5980HX, Ryzen 9 5900H, and Ryzen 7 5800H with the Core i9-11980HK likely to feature a boost clock of 5 GHz on multiple cores.

16-Core Intel Alder Lake-S Processor Appears with DDR5 Memory

Intel has just launched its Rocket Lake-S desktop lineup of processors during this year's CES 2021 virtual event. However, the company is under constant pressure from the competition and it seems like it will not stop with that launch for this year. Today, thanks to the popular leaker @momomo_us on Twitter, we have the first SiSoftware entries made from the anonymous Alder Lake-S system. Dubbed a heterogeneous architecture, Alder Lake is supposed to be Intel's first desktop attempt at making big.LITTLE style of processors for general consumers. It is supposed to feature Intel 10 nm Golden Cove CPU "big" cores & Gracemont "small" CPU cores.

The SiSoftware database entry showcases a prototype system that has 16 cores and 32 threads running at the base frequency of 1.8 GHz and a boost speed of 4 GHz. There is 12.5 MB of L2 cache (split into 10 pairs of 1.25 MB) and 30 MB of level-three (L3) cache present on the processor. There is also an Alder Lake-S mobile graphics controller that runs at 1.5 GHz. Intel Xe gen 12.2 graphics is responsible for the video output. When it comes to memory, Alder Lake-S is finally bringing the newest DDR5 standard with a new motherboard chipset and socket called LGA 1700.

For an Immaculate Build That Keeps its Cool - CORSAIR Launches Versatile 5000 Series of Mid-Tower Cases

[Editor's note: Our review of the CORSAIR 5000D AIRFLOW can be found here]

CORSAIR, a world leader in high-performance gaming peripherals and enthusiast components, today announced a new series of mid-tower ATX cases to suit nearly any build: the CORSAIR 5000D, 5000D AIRFLOW, and the iCUE 5000X RGB. Every 5000 Series case offers simple and tidy cable management thanks to the CORSAIR RapidRoute cable management system, terrific cooling from included fans featuring CORSAIR AirGuide technology, and a spacious interior that fits multiple radiators, including two 360mm simultaneously. Between the understated styling of the 5000D, the optimized airflow of the 5000D AIRFLOW, and the eye-catching RGB lighting behind four beautiful tempered glass panels of the 5000X RGB, the 5000 Series has a case to meet any builder's priorities.

Debuting in the recently launched 4000 Series, the CORSAIR RapidRoute cable management system has proven to be a hit with PC builders looking to minimize the hassle of cable routing while still achieving a clean, professional look for their system. The 5000 Series takes RapidRoute even further, with a concealed cutout, wide enough to fit all major connectors to your motherboard, and multiple removable routing channels through which you can run all your cables out of sight. With a generous 25mm of cable routing depth behind the motherboard, and a magnetic door behind which to hide your cabling, it's exceptionally easy to build a top-tier PC that also looks the part.

EK at CES 2021: Active Backplate, New Torque Fittings, Concept Cases!

EK Waterblocks, who have decided to go by EK for the brand presence in the retail stream henceforth, had a stronger showing at the virtual CES 2021 than most other brands, and showcased a good deal of new products amidst their EK Expo ongoing as of this post. The most interesting product to me at least was their upcoming actively cooled backplate solution, which is different from what Aqua Computer has done to date in that it has an actual cold plate and coolant going through a small block on the back rather than just a heatpipe. Now I will mention that Aqua Computer had shown off some renders of their own take of this, but this is the first time a retail solution has been shown off by a company.

EK says that the new backplate offering will come in either acetal or nickel-plexi variants, and will incorporate a thicker terminal that splits coolant flow to the front and back. The backplate, first coming for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080/3090 reference PCB, will make direct contact with the components on the back as well, with freshly conducted internal testing showing VRAM cooling improvements in significant double digits already. The company plans to make this an option for other popular new GPU releases as well, except for the RTX 3090 FE that gets its own bespoke cooling solution with the backplate connected to the coldplate on the front via thermal pads for a more petite, semi-active cooling solution coming up soon. The first active backplate is due to release in a month, with cost on the order of a typical GPU block itself. Click past the break for more from EK at CES 2021!

Razer Gaming Chair Concept Designs at CES 2021

Razer, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, today announced two new concept designs for CES 2021; Project Hazel, the world's smartest and most socially friendly face mask, and Project Brooklyn, a compact, integrated gaming chair for next generation immersion. Concept designs at Razer are explorations of innovation by the Razer design and engineering teams to evaluate feedback from the community and influence Razer's future product portfolio. Earlier concept designs have either gone to market or elements of which have been included in shipping products.

The smart mask intends to help improve the convenience of daily wear while overcoming common social interaction challenges, while the new transformable gaming chair brings full-scale immersion from its haptics, graphics and lighting in a flexible form factor. For an exclusive preview of these concepts, Razer invites all CES 2021 attendees and the global gaming community to join the RazerStore Live event on January 12th at 10 a.m. PST, simulcast on Razer's YouTube, Twitch and Facebook channels. For more details on the Project Hazel and Project Brooklyn concept designs, please read on.

ASUS Announces ROG Swift PG32UQ 32" 4K 144 Hz HDMI 2.1 IPS Gaming Monitor

The current watershed moment in graphics performance has everyone joining the Ultra HD party. The latest PC graphics cards make higher-refresh-rate 4K gaming easier than ever, and the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles finally support 4K graphics with high dynamic range (HDR) imagery and high refresh rates over the HDMI 2.1 interface. To match this new wealth of pixel-pushing power, we've created the ROG Swift PG32UQ, which we're unveiling at CES 2021.

The PG32UQ's 4K pixel array measures 32" across its diagonal, for a density of 138 PPI. That size strikes a great balance between a sharp picture and keeping text and UI elements readable without scaling. The gorgeous IPS panel has a gray-to-gray response time of just 1 ms. Those speedy pixels make for blur- and ghosting-free motion that's as clear as that of fast TN panels, but with the enhanced color reproduction and viewing angles of IPS.

ASUS Announces ROG Gladius III & Gladius III Wireless Gaming Mice

The ROG Gladius series of mice have long accompanied gamers on their way to the winners' circle. At CES 2021, we're bringing all the latest upgrades in gaming mice together in the Gladius III series. The championship-class Gladius III and Gladius III Wireless meld a brand-new design with a host of cutting-edge technologies, including new switch sockets, sensors, and available wireless connectivity.

The hybrid body shape of the Gladius III is the next evolution in the ROG Gladius series. It's carefully carved to fit palm, claw, and fingertip grip styles like a glove. The ROG Gladius III duo has been hitting the gym, too. The Gladius III Wireless's weight has fallen by 35%, from 130 g to a svelter 89 g. That makes it perfect for split-second reactions and whip-like movements. The wired version is even lighter at 79 g. The low weight helps prevent wrist and arm strain during marathon gaming sessions, as do our 100% PTFE ROG Omni mouse feet and the highly flexible, low-drag ROG Paracord cables. On the Gladius III Wireless, the cable is detachable and connects with a convenient USB Type-C port.

ASUS Announces ROG Claymore II Gaming Keyboard with Optical Mechanical Switches

Life is always better when you have options. That philosophy guided our design of the new ROG Claymore II gaming keyboard, launching at CES 2021. This revamped modular keyboard is based on our exclusive rock-solid and super-fast ROG RX Optical Mechanical key switches. We also made the Claymore II wireless for a cleaner look on your desk.

The ROG Claymore II is built to impress both at rest and in use. The top cover is made of brushed aluminium for a premium feel and added durability, and each of the main components is designed with a minimal footprint in mind. The included magnetically attachable wrist rest is padded with soft leatherette for a comfortable, luxurious feel. But this board's beauty goes more than skin-deep. Its design solves a real problem for demanding users.

ASUS Announces ROG Swift PG279QM 1440P 240 Hz 27" IPS Gaming Monitor

Back in 2015, the ROG Swift PG279Q gaming monitor was among the first to combine NVIDIA G-SYNC tech with a balanced 2560x1440 resolution, an IPS-type panel, and a high 165Hz refresh rate. It's since racked up a mountain of accolades. Five years on, graphics cards have gotten much more powerful, and gaming displays need even higher refresh rates in order to show every frame that top-end cards like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 can draw. At CES 2021, we're raising the bar for 1440p gaming displays with the ROG Swift PG279QM, our first 27" 2560x1440 display with a 240Hz refresh rate.

A 240Hz refresh rate is a big step up in fluidity and responsiveness from the 144Hz max refresh rate typical of most 2560x1440 displays, but that's just one part of the puzzle for a top-end gaming experience. Blurry moving images can muddy your view of the action. To keep every frame crisp, the PG279QM employs the latest ASUS Fast IPS panel technology for a quick 1 ms gray-to-gray response time on average. That low response time results in a picture that's both sharp and fluid in motion, all while maintaining the wide viewing angles that IPS panels are known for.
