Where invention pauses, innovation takes over. This seems to be the case with NVIDIA's initiative to release "Green Edition" products of some of its popular GPUs, which brandishes energy-efficiency. NVIDIA's move to release revisions of the G92 and G94 GPUs built on the newer 55 nm process, coupled with clock-speed and core voltage reductions, seems to have made it possible for manufacturers to redesign the cards in a way that they end up being not only energy efficient, but also cheaper to produce.

Palit seems to be one of the first to be out with a 9600 GT Green Edition accelerator that lacks a 6-pin PCI-Express power input. The card has reached retail channels in Japan, pictured by AKIBA. The card uses a core clock speed of 600 MHz, with its 512 MB of GDDR3 memory clocked at 900 (1800 DDR) MHz. The card uses Palit's regular radial GPU cooler design. It draws all its power from the PCI-Express slot. It lacks an SLI connector. Output options include DVI, D-Sub and HDMI. It is priced at ¥ 7980 (around US $86.7).

Palit Microsystems, leading graphics card manufacturer, introduces the 55nm graphics processor: Palit GeForce GTX260 Sonic 216SP. Gainward, a subsidiary of Palit, has announced the Radeon HD 4870 X2 Golden Sample. The graphics card is identical to the Revolution R700 Deluxe by the parent company Palit, while going with Gainward branding to cater to the company's target markets. Gainward focuses on the Asian markets, where it has most of its influence on. The other subsidiary of Palit, XpertVision, is reportedly being dissolved into the parent brand, as brand Palit has started to have market presence in XpertVision's target market.

The card spans across three expansion slots for its massive cooler. It features two RV770 graphics processors by ATI aided with 2 GB of total memory based on the GDDR5 memory standard. It features a dual-link DVI, a D-SUB, a DisplayPort and a HDMI port. The availability and pricing of this card, is intended to be synchronized with those of the Palit card, they might reach markets at the same time, just that they release in different parts of the world. Palit is ready with what appears to be, a monstrous graphics card based on the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 (R700) design with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, called the Palit Revolution R700 Deluxe. What makes it monstrous apparently is its width that spans across three expansion slots. Under the shroud of the cooler is an elaborate cooling system designed by Palit itself.

The cooler comprises of a large heat radiator, through which several heat-pipes conduct heat from contact blocks for the GPUs, memory, and the PCI-Express bridge chip, with seperate cooling blocks for the VRM area. Two fans of identical sizes blow air on the two thermal zones for the card: GPU and power circuitry. The card boasts overclocking features and company marketed overclocking potential highest for any R700 design so far, while shipping with reference clock speeds of 750/3800 MHz (core/memory). The card is fueled by the usual 6+2 pin and 6 pin power connectors, which are right-angled for accessibility.

NVIDIA regulates its partners from coming up with non-reference cooler or PCB designs for certain high-end products. It seems like NVIDIA has either lifted the regulation over GeForce 9800 GTX(+) or has given Palit the exception of coming up with a non-reference design for the GeForce 9800 GTX+. Palit showcased a card sporting a red PCB with a component arrangement dissimilar to that of the NVIDIA PCB, at the ongoing NVISION event. Quick snaps of this card were taken at the Palit booth. Additionally, Palit also showed-off a GeForce GTX 280 card with a factory-fitted Tieton water block made by Danger Den.

XpertVision is Palit's European VGA graphics cards brand. Only recently they released an announcement that the brands will merge again to become "Palit Microsystems Ltd.".

At the show we saw several new ATI based cards from Palit. Since their booth is located in the AMD hall, no NVIDIA cards were on display.First up is the new Palit HD 4870 which does not use the AMD reference design. The cooler is equipped with two fans and is much quieter than the normal cards. The HD 4870 Sonic Dual features DisplayPort and a Turbo switch which allows you to change the clock frequencies on the fly. When in "Turbo" mode, the card runs at 775/1000 and 750/950 in "Normal" mode. Even in normal mode this is still an overclock over the AMD reference clocks.

Although official release of the card is still scheduled for April Fools' Day, a number of European retailers are already listing NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce 9800 GTX graphics card for pre-order. There are offerings from a number of companies including ASUS and Gigabyte, but the cheapest so far looks to be Palit's card, which has been given a price tag of €273 (about $430). The card comes equipped with a G92 core running at 675MHz, 128 stream processors at 1688MHz and 512MB GDDR3 memory at 2200MHz. The card is on sale at German site ComputerHandlung.de, and is listed under the XpertVision brand name.

Graphics card manufacturer Palit has introduced a new version of its GeForce 9600 GT graphics card featuring 1GB of memory, twice that of the standard model. The 9600 GT 1GB Sonic has a core speed of 700MHz and GDDR3 memory running at 2GHz. The card also comes equipped with HDMI, DisplayPort, Optical SPDIF and two DVI outputs. The card should be available immediately.

Palit Microsystems is launching today an own designed GeForce 8800 GT based graphics card that does not follow NVIDIA's reference design. Palit's GeForce 8800 GT is also different from its competitors as it comes with non stock GPU cooling solution and 3-phase power supply system that should improve overclocking. Other specifications include the standard GeForce 8800 GT 112 stream processors, 512MB GDDR3 memory with 256-bit memory interface, 600MHz core speed, 1800MHz memory clock and PCI Express 2.0 support.

Palit Microsystems, today excitingly announced the most high-end AGP graphics card: X1950GT Super 512MB AGP, designed exclusively for AGP platform PC enthusiasts and hard core gamers. Palit X1950GT AGP has 512MB of GDDR3 super size memory with 256-bit memory interface, 36 pixel shader processors and RV570 GPU clocked at 500MHz. The card is also Windows Vista Premium compatible, as you may guess. Other features like ATI Avivo technology and Dual-link DVI connectivity are also presented.
