MSI X79 Motherboards Break 7 Ivy Bridge-E World Records

After the release of MSI's X79 BIOS with support for the 4th Generation Intel Core i7 Processors (codenamed Ivy Bridge-E) in August and the launch of the 4th Generation Intel Core i7 Processors in September it was bound to happen; hardware performance world records getting shattered.

Several overclockers worldwide broke in total 7 CPU based world records, demonstrating that the MSI X79 motherboards can push the CPU to its maximum. MSI's X79 flagship - Big Bang XPOWER II - was used by various enthusiast overclockers to push the 4th Generation Intel Core i7 Processors to new heights breaking 3 world records; wPrime 32m, wPrime 1024m and CineBench R11.5.
MSI is even more proud that its very affordable X79A-GD45 Plus motherboard was able to break 4 world records with help of the skills of various overclockers across the globe. Besides breaking the Intel Core i7-4960X wPrime 1024m record, the X79A-GD45 Plus was also able to set new highest frequency settings for all the 3 new 4th Generation Intel Core i7 Processors, including an amazing 6.5 GHz on the Intel Core i7-4930K. The other 2 records are created with the 63x CPU multiplier.

This shows that anyone who wants to overclock the 4th Generation Intel Core i7 Processors can't go wrong with MSI's overclocking motherboards.

MSI's GD45 has always been a firm favourite, what does the Plus bring over the 8D?

I'd like to see how many kids out there who
A) can build a PC without adult supervision/instruction
B) can afford a $380(Big Bang XPower II) or $250(GD45) motherboard
C) fall into the "enthusiast" class

Chances are if a "kid" can satisfy any of those three, they've been exposed to guns and bullets by TV and/or video games.

On topic: It's rather surprising that the 4930K snagged the top speed of the three.

...more than you think, the popular ear phones are about $200 and they're all over middle schools these days and if recent trends are an indicator .....most adults and bullets dont mix well either.

Fashion is different. A lot of it has to do with marketing and mommy and daddy's money.
Think about how many middle schoolers can actually build a PC from scratch. Maybe 10%? Now think of how many of those 10% could afford to build a HEDT platform. That's my point. There already aren't a lot of kids who even know how to build PCs at that age, then you factor in the cost and the fact that they're more likely to spend that money on something else. For less than the cost of the Big Bang XPower II, you can buy a 360 or a PS3, which is probably more appealing at that age anyway.

Don't drag this into a gun debate. I'll leave it at that.

And this is as far as I'm going with this conversation. Let's try to keep it on-topic.

This board came out last year...not sure why you're saying "still with the bullets". It's an older board already. This article is just talking about how it's breaking world records, apparently bullets(and the gattling gun heatsink nobody has mentioned) are enough to break records(joke). Can we get a picture of what these boards actually looked like when said records were broken? By the way, I own one of these boards and like it for the most part but I don't care what it looks like because I don't see it, even when I could see it I didn't look at it, what's the point?
