Microsoft to Roll Out Four Security Updates Next Week
The first Patch Tuesday of 2014 is less than a week away and it will see Microsoft deliver four updates, all rated 'Important', that tackle vulnerabilities found in Windows, Office, and Dynamics AX.
One of the updates is set to resolve a previously-acknowledged elevation of privilege vulnerability that affects Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 and has already seen limited, targeted attacks. The patches will become available this coming Tuesday, January 14, at about 10:00 AM PST.
For a bit more info check out the Advance Notification found here.

every month we have BS posts like jorge's, this is why we have wars, everyone ignores history
Jorge: state departments, companies, banks, hospitals, universities, ports, police and army, Formula 1, etc use Windows, get over your complex! Now! Just do it.
Also searching the web I found plenty of articles regarding this:
www.bit-tech.net/news/bits/2013/09/12/patch-tuesday-flaws/1
www.infoworld.com/t/microsoft-windows/microsoft-botches-six-windows-patches-in-latest-automatic-update-224988
Now these are just to name a few.
Historically it has been working well, but the quality has definitely dropped off lately.
The reason behind this is not certain, I just hope that it is not indicative of bigger issues within Microsoft.
Marty :)
the only update that caused problems for me is that win7 DX update that messed with certain dx10 games such as red faction guerrilla

Why don't you go back under your bridge?
That said, I am not upset at all that they patch. I welcome it. An OS is literally billions of lines of code, and no one could anticipate every security glitch. Most of them are found by people whose only goal in life is to find exploits in Windows. You can't anticipate that. I applaud MS when they try to fix those exploits!
