GeForce 9800 GTX Close-Up Pictures

There are not many details on this unfortunately, but WE.PCINLIFE seems to have acquired a number of close-up images of NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce 9800 GTX, which will be the company's first high-end single GPU 9 series graphics card. There are 18 pictures in all, with some of the better shots shown below.

Nice pictures. Bad GPU specs though. :( 9800 GTX = 8800 GTS 512M OC + two gold fingers.

What is the wire deal coming from the PCB to the PCI bracket? Toslink connector maybe?

Nice to know what minimal upgrade in performance looks like :(

Here's a rear-shot of the cards. The wire seems to lead to an small input here, just to the right of the exhaust grill.

It has two six pin PCI-E power connectors, unless the second one is just for show, i highly doubt this is merely an OC GTS, must be more to it.

Looks like the old 6800/7800 layout. Wonder if those GPU cooler would be compatible?

Other than that, it looks like an 8800GTX without that small chip on the left side.

My only wish is that they would sell the card exactly as it is in these pictures. Instead of the cover, the hs and fan, just give me a barebones model for a cheaper price that way I could add water cooling for less money.

This card will oc better than the 8800GTS 512MB, if you voltmod... The long PCB is to accomodate the 6 phases (2 memory, 4 core )

A 8800GTS 512MB will be far cheaper and provide almost the same performance, so this card isnt really a worthwhile purchase. If you know no limits however with trying to set a record...

I would expect at LEAST the 8800GTS 320/640MB cooler... if its a 8800GTX cooler however... lol.

Wow that's a lot of capasitors. I have 6, GTS has 8 and this has got 14! Juice should not be a problem with this. Sexy colored PCB, if that is how reference models look.

Looks like a damn nice card, it is going to be overpriced, but then again all the high end cards are overpriced.

It definitely has a better power setup than the 8800GTS 512, so it should clock higher, especially if they use 0.8ns RAM, and they should considering the stock clock speed of the RAM is 1100MHz.

The odd thing however, is that in the specs leaked earlier, the only way to get the correct Texture Fillrate was to disable 8 texture units on the GPU. Meaning that the 8800GTS 512 might be the only G92 card to not use a cut down core. However, will the few less texture units really hurt performance? It still has 54, the old 8800GTX/Ultra only had 32.

OMG, its a waste of money

SLi is just a way to make people think their penis is bigger because they have more cards.

It's a bug in GPU-Z.
G92GTS too is read as if it had 56 TMUs while it actually has 64.

They just need to go back to the Old Naming, Ultra, GTS, no suffix, GS. dual GPU cards are special Suffix of GX.
