Apple posted a much needed firmware update to the SSDs inside MacBook Air (mid-2012).Bad firmware made the machine vulnerable to data loss in certain cases, and it took over a year for Apple to get enough warranty claims to act on the firmware. The firmware update puts existing data on risk, so it would be a good idea to back things up.
