This Week in Gaming (Week 45)

With autumn in full swing, the first full week of November brings a bunch of new games along with it and this week's AAA title is the third in the series and appears to have something to do with duty. As for this week's other titles, we can look forward to managing some kind of sports teams, crafting robots, erasing names, messing around in dungeons and finally some old school action.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III / This week's AAA title / Friday 10 November
Modern Warfare III celebrates the 20th anniversary of Call of Duty with one of the greatest collections of Multiplayer maps ever assembled - both fan favorites and all new ones. All 16 launch maps from the original Modern Warfare 2 (2009) have been modernized with new modes and gameplay features and will be available at launch to get everyone started, while over 12 all-new core 6v6 maps will fuel post-launch live seasons.
Football Manager 2024 / Monday 6 November
Football is the relentless pursuit of perfection. Success in the modern game is defined by those who build, plan and fine-tune every aspect of their club. Whether you're a manager who likes to build from the bottom or prefers to chase immediate glory, the perfect challenge awaits, with the Meiji Yasuda Insurance Ltd J1, J2 and J3 leagues also fully unlocked and playable for the first time ever in the history of the series.
Robocraft 2 / Tuesday 7 November
The sequel to the genre-defining game, played by over 16 million people! Experience vehicle-based online PvP destruction with limitless options, absolutely free. 100 years after the events of Robocraft, two corporations are returning to Mars to fight for the powerful resource called protonium. What will their war set into motion?
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name / Wednesday 8 November
Once a legendary yakuza, Kazuma Kiryu faked his own death and abandoned his name for the sake of protecting his family. Now, he is thrust into conflict by a mysterious figure attempting to drive him out of hiding. Under the codename "Joryu", Kiryu embarks on a gripping action narrative with bone-shattering combat in vibrant locations filled with exciting characters and activities.
Dungeons 4 / Thursday 9 November
The Absolute Evil and its trusted *cough* servant, the Dark Elf Thalya, return in Dungeons 4 after the events of its fabulous predecessor to bring about their triumph over the forces of good once more.
Strike Force Heroes / Friday 10 November
Strike Force Heroes is an oldschool arena shooter rebuilt with modern mechanics with full co-operative and PvP online multiplayer. It melds over the top action with epic story-telling in this intense remake of the hit Flash game.

Robocraft 1 was fun, until the devs made it p2w. I hope the same doesn't happen to Robocraft 2.

How's Dungeons 4? Anyone tried out the demo?

SFH looks like nice spiritual successor to Broforce.

I played the heck out of the Flash versions. I may have to pick this one up.

Strike Force Heroes looks like it would be a lot of fun w co-op.
The name made me think Gunstar Heroes was getting a reboot at first though.

Dungeons 4 is my pick. I definitely buying this one. The 3rd one was great and I think this one will be as well or even better.

These games don't interest me, but that's fine - it's been a pretty exciting year already (Hogwarts Legacy, Starfield, Alan Wake 2, etc), and Space Marine 2 still isn't out, yet. :)

People like to stand outside in the drizzle...
I thought only British people liked that.

Sorry, bad joke, but I couldn't help myself as so many people disliked this week's releases.

I was mighty confused - I got to this from the forum page and you cannot access the poll from there.

I am going to have to go and vote on these now.

It's not that I dislike them (I don't). It's just that this year has seen lots of awesome releases that cost me a bit of money (and time), so I'm a bit more selective as to what else I want to play. That is, my list of games to play has grown significantly, so I don't want to add to it for now, unless something really blows my mind.

I can only speak for myself, of course. :)

As a British person, you must be used to standing in the drizzle...

I live in Britain, but I'm not really British. I get what you mean, though. :)

This year, I've been standing in the drizzle of interesting AAA games, which I haven't done in a while, that's why I'm taking a breather. :D

This just happened to have been the most negative poll for a while, hence my comment.
Not saying these are all good games, but 70% of people that voted think they're all crap? Daim!

I think that's only because there's no option for "they're okay, but I'll pass for now".

I love games, but if I bought a new one every week, I'd be broke, not to mention the time that I don't have to play them. :(

I can add such an option, if you think that'll make a difference.

Not expecting anyone to buy anything though, this is simply to measure interest in whatever I post.
No-one is ever going to buy a single game out of the ones I post about, based on this weekly update, this is just to highlight some upcoming titles.
The negative polls are a bit disheartening at times though, as it's rare that more than 50% of people vote on something else than not being interested.

I think it will - having little or no interest in a game, and thinking that it's crap are not the same thing, after all. :)

Actually, I've added quite a few games to my Steam wishlist based on your past articles. ;)

Don't give up hope just because some weeks aren't as interesting as others gaming-wise. Like I said, 2023 has been an awesome year already, so taking a break is no biggie. :)

Oh, some week's I have a hard time finding something even remotely worth posting for certain days, so I'm not looking at it that way, but it seems like there's a bit too much negativity, but I'll add in a different option in the next poll and we shall see.

If out of 100 people who read your post, only 1 finds something interesting enough to play, it's still a victory in my book. Without your post, that 1 person would have potentially never known about the game.

I just want to add that I also enjoy this weekly list of upcoming games, & that I too have wishlisted a good few things from these lists, so thank you for doing them!

I do think an option along the lines of "I'm interested in one or more of these, but won't be grabbing any immediately" would get a lot of votes.

Actually, that's what I do. I wishlist interesting titles right away, but usually don't grab them on launch, instead waiting for some sort of discount. I made exception to this very few times, (notably for Tony Hawk 1 + 2, as I've been a massive fan of series)
