To techpowerup.com: are you guys gonna make a news entry every time a new D4 season drops?

Is it going to be bug fixes and quality of life that the game should have shipped with on release disguised as an update yet again?
Devs usually do that when the game is at Death's Door.

It had one ?, i thought it was sold as rotten on the shelf to begin with.

Now they want our money after what happened before, they showed their true colors over the last few years and they can go to hell. Now they want the whole cake.

GTFOH.

Yeah its striking isn't it. So you have to imagine, there is a meeting in those offices of all those developers doing their online service model games where a design goal is to tweak all the values so players 'stay as long as possible' and 'the progression curve fits our business plan and content timing'. And they then think we don't notice and are still having fun, not feeling like we're taken a run for with fake difficulty and stat bumps.

Dream on, idiots, real gamers know. You can't lie to us.

Your imagination is way too wild if you think developers make those decisions.

Developers need to implement this, so they need to build it. Didnt say they decide it must be done. But it comes out of developer hands.

The fact developers do this to 'their own game' speaks volumes about a team and its culture. You have to be a pretty lean athlete for those mental gymnastics. Or just plain dead inside. Ten, twenty years ago it was new and maybe you couldnt know. But in 2023?

Are you suggesting developers should take a moral high ground and refuse to implement things they're asked to?

Wait a second, there was a Season 2? /s

Never logged back in Blizzard, you treated your real fans & customers like crap for way too long. I don't care how good it is now or how good you will make it, this was the last title I will have ever bought from you. You had decades of experience and decided to give us a turd on launch, oh we know why you did it, smelled the cash a mile off eh? Create the problem, sell the solution. SCREW YOU!

Blizzard get zero goodwill after Diablo III. Their corporate greed *almost* ruined it but they caved to the pressure of community backlash and eventually made something fun, even if that wasn't their first choice.

Diablo IV is just a rip-off beta that will likely die before it's even half-finished. Any talent Blizzard had for game design left that company at least a decade ago in disgust.

All they had to do is make D3 progression in an open world, with dungeons, and a new story. They messed it up. D4 is dead.

I'm against the grain here, I don't mind it.

It's not the first thing I fire up but I am usually poking around at the start of each season.

I still find it a little less intuitive than I'd like but still generally fun to play.

Like a month after release. You knew it was truly dead when no one showed up to the live event in South Korea

Wasnt D4 a complete flop? Which is a shame as I like Diablo and wanted to try this but for $155 thats just insane price and a big NOPE from me till its cheaper!

Thats fine too, shit games deserve some TLC too, Im glad you make that sacrifice so others dont have to :toast:

Slot machines kinda give me that same experience you describe above here. 'Oh, there are flashy lights and I get my dopamine shot every 10 minutes' "its not really intuitive so I dont really like what Im doing but its okay for a while"

Worth reflecting on

I play league of legends as well. That's exceptional for self hate.

It's not that the game mechanics are problematic, more I find myself questioning why the season is giving us xxx.

I still feel that summoner classes in D3/D4 don't reflect what they were in D2.
