Sony Reveals the PlayStation 5 Pro, Launches November 7th
Over the last four years since the launch of PS5, we've worked hard to continuously evolve the console experience and deliver the great games our players expect from us. Today, I'm incredibly proud to announce the next step in that evolution and welcome PlayStation 5 Pro to the PlayStation family - our most advanced and innovative console hardware to date.
We developed PS5 Pro with deeply engaged players and game creators in mind - as many have asked for a console that runs even higher fidelity graphics with smoother frame rates at 60 FPS. We achieved this on PS5 Pro with several key performance features.
Other enhancements include PS5 Pro Game Boost, which can apply to more than 8,500 backward compatible PS4 games playable on PS5 Pro. This feature may stabilize or improve the performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games. Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 games is also available to improve the resolution on select PS4 games. PS5 Pro will also launch with the latest wireless technology, Wi-Fi 7, in territories supporting this standard. VRR and 8K gaming are also supported.
It's humbling to see how game creators have embraced the latest technology from PS5 Pro, and several games will be patched with free software updates for gamers to take advantage of PS5 Pro's features. These games can be identified with a PS5 Pro Enhanced label within their title. Some games you can look forward to include blockbuster hits from PlayStation Studios and our third-party partners, such as Alan Wake 2, Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Demon's Souls, Dragon's Dogma 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Gran Turismo 7, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Forbidden West, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, The Crew Motorfest, The First Descendant, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and more.
We kept the look of the PS5 Pro consistent with the overall PS5 family of products. You'll notice the height is the same size as the original PS5, and the width is the same size as the current PS5 model to accommodate higher performance specs. Players can add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive, or swap out console covers when they become available.
PS5 Pro fits perfectly within the PS5 family of products and is compatible with the PS5 accessories currently available, including PlayStation VR2, PlayStation Portal, DualSense Edge, Access controller, Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore. The user interface and network services will also remain the same as PS5.
The PS5 Pro console will be available this holiday at a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY (includes tax). It will include a 2 TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller and a copy of Astro's Playroom pre-installed in every PS5 Pro purchase. PS5 Pro is available as a disc-less console, with the option to purchase the currently available Disc Drive for PS5 separately.
PS5 Pro will launch on November 7, 2024 and will be available at participating retailers and directly from PlayStation at direct.playstation.com. Preorders will begin on September 26, 2024.
Our PS5 journey would not be possible without the millions of players that have supported us through the years and have shared with us their love of gaming. Whichever console option players choose, whether it's PS5 or PS5 Pro, we wish to bring everyone the very best gaming experience that fits their needs.

We developed PS5 Pro with deeply engaged players and game creators in mind - as many have asked for a console that runs even higher fidelity graphics with smoother frame rates at 60 FPS. We achieved this on PS5 Pro with several key performance features.
- Upgraded GPU: With PS5 Pro, we are upgrading to a GPU that has 67% more Compute Units than the current PS5 console and 28% faster memory. Overall, this enables up to 45% faster rendering for gameplay, making the experience much smoother.
- Advanced Ray Tracing: We've added even more powerful ray tracing that provides more dynamic reflection and refraction of light. This allows the rays to be cast at double, and at times triple, the speeds of the current PS5 console.
- AI-Driven Upscaling: We're also introducing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling that uses a machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.

4) yes it does and here’s your proof:
I trust Gamer Nexus way more than Digital Foundry any day of the week of any year and I’m definitely not alone in that thinking. I was actually super nice about the PS5 performance. Steve, not so much LMAO
5) you don’t need a K&M and a controller for the PC unless certain games you want to play that’s doesn’t accept controller and that usually a PC ONLY game. Also thanks to Valve’s Big Picture mode, you can hop on and get straight toy your games without a K&B and just use controller. Nice try tho…
6) Linux is unreliable? Ok so is Windows and your point? Also people use Bazzite for dual purpose PC and AMD AND Nvidia GPUs perform BETTER in Linux. Also, you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to Windows Keys. Cheap Windows keys are NOT illegal. If they were, they why are you paying for it instead of getting it? Common sense. Also, how would YOU know if the cheap Windows Keys are illegal…
8) it was about the stand
9)yes it optional but why would you spend $500 to play the same single player games that you play in PS4? AND NEVER PLAY ONLINE. I’m not telling people how to spend their money but to bring that kind of logic to the argument doesn’t makes sense when there are other cheaper options available. Also, again AS A CONVENIENCE… you need to add the PS plus to the total cost to the PS5 and that’s over $1000…but you refused to see it that way and ignore parts of the argument and says a PC equivalent is $1000 and it’s no where near.
FYI you don't test a GPU using 120 FPS, lol. And you're gonna install Windows or Linux using your controller? LOL. Linux is unreliable as a high end gaming PC, doesn't twist my words to your liking.
And yes cheap Windows keys violates Microsoft ToS and are illegal. Still not required. You know that you can play online without a PS+ subscription, right?
But I agree we should move on and wait for the actual test of the console.
2) the 120fps gaming shows the capability of the GPU and something that is comparable to and at the time was compared to a GTX 1060. And guess what? Nvidia also has that fine wine ideology like AMD so if consoles have matured in gaming so has the GTX 1060 LMAO. GTX 1080 and 1080ti are PRIME EXAMPLES.
3) no but can use a keyboard with out a mouse soooooo....
4) and yet people are moving to Linux everyday because of Microsoft and most GPU and CPU drivers are more reliable and stable than Windows and majority of games that are not owned by Microsoft or Sony(look that up)
5) So there is no such thing as sale on Windows Key? Windows OS go on sale ALL of the time and places to get those key are CHEAP AND LEGIT. Understand what you are saying before using it a point for argument(like the emulation issue with Nintendo Switch..) and AGAIN, HOW WOULD YOU KNOW IF THEY ARE ILLEGAL??? IS the website you're getting from a safe website?
6) not technically require but CONVIENTLY required...two different things
7) Since you ignored my last comment I'll paste it here again. I know that you don't need a PS membership but: WHY WOULD YOU SPEND $500 TO PLAY THE SAME SINGLE PLAYER GAMES that you play on PS4? AND NEVER PLAY ONLINE. I’m not telling people how to spend their money but to bring that kind of logic to the argument doesn’t makes sense when there are other cheaper options available. Also, again AS A CONVENIENCE… you need to add the PS plus to the total cost to the PS5 and that’s over $1000…but you refused to see it that way and ignore parts of the argument and says a PC equivalent is $1000 and it’s no where near.
2) Consoles have a set performance target to achieve, otherwise we would have actual PC like performance from consoles instead of BEING BOTTLENECK TO THE GROUND LIKE THE PS5 AND SERIES X since you can't understand that. The fact that Steve is able to achieve those console performance with GTX 1060 SAYS A LOT. The reason you are having issue with is because of Shill Foundry.. let's keep it real...
3) YIPEE! IT went from $700 to $690 so the PC IS CHEAPER THAN THE PS5 PRO LOL keep using that $1000 with no ACTUAL PROOF please.. quite entertaining to say the least...
4)Ask the Steam Deck Community LMAO and also people who are sick and tired of Windows...Also any GPU that's higher than a RX 6800 is considered high end and a lot of people bought 4070s....
5) Bro, you obviously have a motive and ignore that the fact that you can find Windows Keys for sale that's NOT STOLEN and again that you refuse to say...WHERE AND HOW DO YOU KNOW THEY ARE STOLEN?!?!? How DO YOU KNOW they are from unused education institutional codes? DO THEY TELL YOU WHEN YOU BUY IT? DO THEY TELL YOU WHERE THEY GO IT FROM? DO THEY TELL YOU THEY STOLE IT?? HOW DO YOU KNOW???? All you said is cheap Windows keys are illegal. So if I go to Newegg.com and buy Windows 10 for $50 when it originally was $120 for the basic version and $200 for the pro version, IS THAT STILL ILLEGAL??? GROUPON(a legit site) has Windows 10 keys for $15 dollars RIGHT NOW! Is that ILLEGAL? If so, then Microsoft should go after GROUPON(they are not)
6) Now read the bolded section again and come back to me: Since you ignored my last comment I'll paste it here again. I know that you don't need a PS membership but(read this part please): WHY WOULD YOU SPEND $500 TO PLAY THE SAME SINGLE PLAYER GAMES that you play on PS4? AND NEVER PLAY ONLINE. I’m not telling people how to spend their money but to bring that kind of logic to the argument doesn’t makes sense when there are other cheaper options available. Also, again AS A CONVENIENCE… you need to add the PS plus to the total cost to the PS5 and that’s over $1000…but you refused to see it that way and ignore parts of the argument and says a PC equivalent is $1000 and it’s no where near
My bad my bad, I didn't realize that playing at 800p on low settings is considered high end PC gaming. LOL Microsoft doesn't sell retail/OEM Windows for that price, even very large distributers can't get these low prices, you want to tell me that Groupon for example are a charity that sells Microsoft keys at a big loss? You can play online for free without a PS+ subscription, is this very hard for you to understand?
And I didn't realize that Spiderman2 and other PS5 only games can be played on the PS4, please teach all of us (And Sony as well) on how you managed to do this.
2) IRONIC coming from you making that statement LMAO you keep on word vomiting on what everybody says and like a parrot repeat it until it becomes true...
3) I'm still waiting on that $1000 PC you keep talking about with no proof once so ever. I have shown you the $700 PC and you willingly ignore that. So please show me that $1000 PC please... I'm waiting...
4) Oh my bad. I forgot that you can't read and don't understand what it's being shown to you... so we're gonna pass it (until you make a remark about it)
5) "LOL Microsoft doesn't sell retail/OEM Windows for that price, even very large distributers can't get these low prices, you want to tell me that Groupon for example are a charity that sells Microsoft keys at a big loss?" You didn't answer my question. IS IT ILLEGAL OR NOT? GROUPON is LEGIT and YOU CAN BUY IT RIGHT NOW. Is GROUPON legit yes or no?
6) "You can play online for free without a PS+ subscription, is this very hard for you to understand" and again Why would you waste $500 to GET A NEW GEN CONSOLE TO PLAY THE SAME SINGLE PLAYER GAMES AS THE PREVIOUS GEN. AND WHY WON'T YOU PLAY ONLINE? Why would you do that if the PS4(cheaper alternative)can play those same games? Answer those questions please.
7) Ask Sony why did they release God of War Ragnarök, Horizon Zero Dawn, Gran Turismo 7, Ghost of Tsushima, Stray, Spider-Man/Miles Morales, DEMON SOULS(LOL), TLOU 1 AND 2. Capcom Fighting Game Collection 1 and 2 for BOTH PS4 and PS5. Sony fanboys are literally pissed at Sony for not releasing games(which is ALSO ironic)
Just repeating the obvious until it hopefully (long shot, I know) sticks into your mind, PS5 Pro has WIFI7, your PS5 Pro equivalent PC must have it as well in order to be equivalent, common sense 101. Flawed incomplete PC doesn't count as a PS5 Pro equivalent PC. Buy the key and tell them to ship all original Microsoft packaging along with a new COA sticker, and you'll get your answer the hardway LOL. PS4 can play Spiderman2? Thats just one example that puts your dumb logic out the window. Outside the scope of our discussion Mr. goalpost guy, please stick to PC vs PS5 Pro at $700, also you still haven't taught us how you managed to play Spiderman2 on a PS4.
Now regarding equivalent PC price, let me give you my opinion (I know you're not answering me). I kinda agree with you on some parts, and not on others.
First I agree Linux gaming isn't the easy the way to say the least so I would agree it's not exactly the recommended gaming experience, and this would give the Playstation 5 advantages over it such as ease of use.
Regarding Windows licenses, nowadays less and less people buy it full price imo, at least since "Windows as a service" is a thing and we get free updates for Windows. On paper you're right and it's not totally legal but come on, it's more grey than totally black, at least for the end user.
WiFi 7... That's obviously a bit ridiculous... It's a freaking desktop gaming PC, you don't connect with Wifi... At the very least you should give up on Wifi 7 and accept Wifi 6.
With a well balanced gaming PC, you don't usually get CPU bottleneck before 120 fps imo.
700$ PC close to a PS5 Pro seems really hard to achieve without really good discounts imo, but I don't live in the US so I can't say for sure. I would say it's more like 900$ maybe ? Whatever, I don't think we need that much precision, the PC price will decrease more than the PS5 Pro anyway. The point for me is that it's not too far. In the past it used to be like double the price for PC gaming, now it's not the case anymore and one may consider it since we can do more on a PC. But of course I can understand people who still prefer the console. It's not my case though.
Double the framerate without frame generation, BTW frame generation is present on the PS5 and is used in Black Myth: Wukong for example. Because it will save us a lot of time and space if you'd just google the obvious things instead of asking for it tens of times, its not hard. For starter the number of transistors is wrong, 28.1M is for the GCD transistors only, not the sum of both GCD and MCD transistors like the page says, I've emailed them about it a few months ago and they didn't correct it, while I do appreciate the efforts that goes in doing a GPU and SSD database, you should't treat them as citable source. Its not grey, its black, its illegal, those key reselling site hides those facts from the buyer. Don't want to go into details on why WIFI 7 is much better but WIFI 6 or WIFI 7 both should cost the same or at least similar on a PC, so it doesn't affect the end price of PC anyway. Configured one on PCPartpicker and at $1020 it was still missing a Gamepad and OS.
2) So you admit you don't have one and instead commenting as flawed PC but don't say the reason why it's flawed and don't provide any evidence...I rest my case on that as you are just lying at this point and have nothing to argue LMAO. Again, I provided the parts and they are available as new not used. you are more than welcome to provide flaws...or the lack rather
3) So caught up on Spider-Man 2 and you forgot the question that you asked.. let me remind you: "And I didn't realize that Spiderman2 and other PS5 only games can be played on the PS4, please teach all of us (And Sony as well) on how you managed to do this", God of War Ragnarök(PS5 and PS4), Horizon Zero Dawn(PS5 and PS4), Gran Turismo 7(PS5 and PS4), Ghost of Tsushima(Re-released on PS4 and Originally on PS4), Stray(PS5 and PS4), Spider-Man/Miles Morales(on PS4 and re-released on PS5), DEMON SOULS(LOL PS3 and then PS5), TLOU 1 AND 2(on PS4 and re-released on PS5). Capcom Fighting Game Collection 1 and 2 for BOTH PS4 and PS5. I know reading is so hard for you and research as well. Oh no.. Spider-Man 2 is not on PS4...vs 10 other games that are
4) I have been sticking to the conversation and you threw in nonsense to the argument. You still haven't shown the $1000 PC as I have shown the $700 PC and you picked at and provided no reasoning for the flaw and just trolling at this point. That's really funny because that's where I configured my PC part as well and manually added the OS that you can find for cheap and gamepads for PC can be found for $20 or $30 bucks. It really took this long for you to finally say your source of for your nonsense.
Just like that, just to make the dull fanboy of the moment convenient.
The comparison should not be made with the funnel towards your beloved PS5. Use that logic when you play with console fan friends.
You lack the philological basis of the word comparison.
Stop talking nonsense, or rather only with the sense of the fanboy.
@4:05 "And with the big 3 involved, the results can be pretty amazing, with graphics showing something like, fidelity levels of details, but with double the frame rate". So yes he says "double the frame rate", but the conditions are "fidelity levels of details", which must be something close to the quality of the fidelity mode of the PS5, but probably not exactly, else he wouldn't use that wording, and we can imagine it might be due to PSSR. And above all, and that's the main point here, he explicitly says it involves all the 3 fields of improvement of the PS5 Pro. He defined beforehand (@3:11) that the big 3 are : the larger GPU, advanced ray tracing and AI driven upscaling. He explicitly says each are much better with the PS5 Pro. So with all combined it can double the frame rate (which implies that's when using RT and PSSR since he says it involves all 3).
So no he didn't contradict himself, he just didn't limit his speech to pure rendering, which was the subject we were talking about. For pure rendering, those "up to +45%" are valid. So with that it mind, it means the PS5 GPU should be something that has similar rendering perfs as the RX 6800 (assuming the PS5 has similar perfs with the RX 6700), but with better upscaling and much better RT perfs (@3:36 "calculations of the rays at double or even triple the speed of the PS5"), hence able to double the frame rate in best case scenarios when everything comes into play.
To wrap this up, since RT is said to be much better, it should get it close (lower or higher we don't know, but close) to Nvidia levels in RT, with rendering power close to an RX 6800, that would mean somewhere between the 4060 Ti and the 4070. Imo, either in RT or non RT, it shouldn't be lower than the 4060 Ti, and shouldn't be higher than the 4070. And if we extrapolate a little bit, it could be close to a future 5060, which hopefully will cost less than 400$ and should be released before next summer. For now while the PS5 Pro is not cheap, it should have pretty decent perfs, but it will have to decrease its price next summer to compete with PCs. At least that's my guess about it, it's not sure science in this last part. Seriously ? Just because there is not a separate field for transistors of each chip it's not reliable ?? At most that's a lack of some minor details (arguably transistors are not a main concern for most people).
