WEROCK Presents New Generation of Rugged Notebooks

WEROCK Technologies GmbH, innovative manufacturer of industrial computer technology, announces the launch of two new rugged high-performance notebooks. According to the manufacturer, the laptops have been designed for professional, industrial use with complex tasks in a wide variety of locations where strong performance is required. They are delivered with Intel Core Ultra processors of the Meteor Lake generation, Intel AI Boost, Arc Graphics, with up to 16 cores, a 4.8
GHz turbo clock frequency and up to 64 GB RAM. Pioneering AI and machine learning functions including AI assistants set the course for modern computing and fast performance.

The new Rockbook X540 G3 and Rockbook X550 G3 laptops have been developed for field service professionals in numerous industries. They have numerous modern communication functions - including options for 4G LTE or 5G, have a dedicated uBlox GPS/GNSS sensor, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and also offer numerous other interfaces such as Thunderbolt 4, USB ports, HDMI and a serial port.
The robust notebooks are supplied with Microsoft Windows 11 Pro and Intel Core Ultra processors of the Meteor Lake generation, Arc Graphics and up to 64 GB of RAM. The result is solid performance for a wide range of data- and/or graphics-intensive usage scenarios with economical power consumption. Both products have extensive expansion options. The NVMe main memory is available in various configurations up to 2 TB, while an additional hard disk slot enables expansion by a further 2 TB of storage capacity.

Both Rockbook X540 G3 and Rockbook X550 G3 feature AI functions thanks to Intel AI Boost, which provides fast data analysis and is useful for many application scenarios, such as quality control, intelligent image and video analysis in manufacturing, predictive maintenance of machines and instruments, and process optimization in production and warehouse management. Rockbook X540 G3 and Rockbook X550 G3 are compatible with the AI frameworks OpenVINO, WindowsML, DirectML, ONNX RT and have a dedicated Copilot button to directly call up AI assistants from Microsoft.

The bright (1000 nits) 14-inch and 15.6-inch Full HD displays ensure perfect display readability in bright sunlight. The models are also equipped with a capacitive, glove-operated multi-touch and a backlit keyboard. Rockbook X540 G3 and Rockbook X550 G3 also offer various security and data protection features. A discrete TPM 2.0 module and integrated Device Protection Technology with Boot Guard help to protect the system. A fingerprint sensor included as standard supports secure logins via Windows Hello, while the integrated Kensington Lock slot protects the notebooks against theft. A slider that covers the integrated 5 megapixel camera and a switch that quickly terminates all wireless connections mechanically offer additional protection.

The fully robust laptops are light and compact for their class, weighing just around 3 kg. Thanks to the integrated carrying handles, the devices are also very comfortable during transportation. For long working days, the Rockbook X540 G3 and Rockbook X550 G3 are supplied with two batteries: a 56 Wh hot-swap battery and an additional 14.4 Wh fixed battery. The device remains fully functional during the battery change.

Rockbook X540 G3 and Rockbook X550 G3 are resistant to all the rigors of field service: They are dust and water-protected to IP65, resistant to salt spray and fungal attack, meet the military standard (MIL-STD-810H) for temperature, humidity and vibration, and are tested for drops from 1.2 m. They are also suitable for use in temperatures from -20°C to +60°C.

You know, I was looking at them and was thinking "Something's off, there's barely any metal and looks like it's all plastic...for a rugged laptop".
Then:
weighing just around 3 kg.
and are tested for drops from 1.2 m.
Ah, they are made of plastic, got it. So I'm wagering a bit more tough than the ye ol' ThinkPad L510/520 chassis.
