Helldivers 2 Warbond System Previewed Ahead of March 14 Launch

Helldivers, get the Cutting Edge advantage on the battlefield! Greetings, fearless heroes of galactic democracy! Steel yourself for the next big push against the disgraceful enemies of freedom with our brand-new Warbond—Cutting Edge! Packed with high-voltage vibes, Cutting Edge gives you the chance to enhance your loadout of liberty with ultra-futuristic armour, guns that spit lightning, super stylish capes and epic emotes.

Super Earth R&D Experiments
Helldivers… we need your help. The brainiacs in Super Earth Research & Development have some cool experimental armour ready to be field-tested. This is where you come in, you're just the right people for the job.
THE EX SERIES PROTOTYPES
  • EX-03 Prototype 3—Includes a rubber underlayer for insulation. Handy, really, as this prototype's wires operate at a shocking 400,000 volts.
  • EX-16 Prototype 16—Warning: Electric arc generates a strong magnetic field. Avoid use while near stapled paperwork.
  • EX-00 Prototype X—The end result of several billion Super Credits and 12 years of research into creating "the Soldier of Tomorrow". Show us it was worth it.

Shock & Awe with an Expanded Arsenal
R&D didn't stop at armour, though. They're also rolling out a new series of alien-splitting weapons with electrifying perks!
  • LAS-16 SICKLE—A sweet laser rifle that fires in short bursts. And it doesn't need reloading. Just watch for overheating or shove a new heatsink in there.
  • SG-8P PUNISHER PLASMA—Exploding plasma rounds sound deadly… because they are, to aliens and allies! This modified Punisher shotgun is as fun as it is fearsome.
  • ARC-12 BLITZER—Project an arc of close-range lightning, or charge it up to fire off powerful bolts. Good for taking out multiple targets and giving you more time to pick a celebration emote.
And you can unlock a new stun grenade, the G-23 Stun, and the LAS-7 Dagger pistol.
I know what I'll be doing… equipping the LAS-7 Dagger AND LAS-16 Sickle at the same time, turning my Helldiver into a real live wire and melting the foes of Managed Democracy on sight. But we've got to do this with a touch of style, right? So you can accessorise your armour sets with three new capes, featuring matching colours and designs. My favorite is the Botslayer: a light tan cape that will no doubt look great soaked in Automaton oil.

There are even matching player cards for each cape, as well as three new emotes. Cutting Edge is rolling out to your Destroyer's Acquisitions panel March 14, soldiers.

Get ready to spill some oil in style. Prepare for deployment.

Servers have been working fine for the last two weeks? I have had the game itself crash a couple times, but never had a connection issue since they rolled out the idle timer and increased player limits. Pushing up toward 90 hours and have experienced no issues.

If you're specifically talking about the blip today when they enabled the mechs, yeah 450,000 people all launching a game within the same 30 minute window to go play with the new toy caused a brief hiccup. Oh no, 15 minutes of downtime while they fixed it. That certainly isn't a problem that any other game has ever had in the history of ever.

Not really paid DLC, you unlock the warbonds with game progression (medals) and you can also gain the premium currency by finding items during missions which then you can use to unlock the premium tree.

Yesterday a group of us had to spend 30minutes trying to get in, (2 of 4 got in right away, myself and the other kept having the wait 30s refresh until it finally let us in). The game itself is fantastic but this login roulette is ridiclous.

Another game showing the middle finger to this generation of bad games dependent on DLSS and its derivatives. Congratulations.

Glad to see more weapons… that will all be equally useless and require emptying an entire mag into small enemies while running in a circle from the 4 charges and 3 bile titans that just spawned on top of you.

Use a mech, one missile to charger's front leg removes armor and machine gun to the leg to kill it
With good placed shots a single mech can kill those 4 chargers and 3 bile titans
edit: i love the game but it has its bugs... hehe

I didn't spend any more money over the purchase of the game and I have earned enough Super Credits (from the basic warbonds you can purchase using Medals and finding them while playing through missions) to purchase the premium status (1,000 Super Credits). It's pretty easy to get as long as you just hoard your super credits and not spend them on the rotating armor/helmets.

At the moment I don't feel the items behind the premium warbonds are really any better than what you can get in the normal warbonds. Guess we wait and see what the future holds.

Servers have been mostly fine for me lately.

This is a ingame currency warbond, not really a paid DLC.

I mean it defaults to a non-native res scaling so not sure it's much better at default. But at least you can switch to native and it is playable.

Almost like the game is about killing bugs or something...

Turn off the global illumination setting. #1 crash cause right now.

Biggest issues right now is the balance pass kind of killed the higher difficulties. They also tweaked some of the AI and maps to make it impossible to set up any kind of defensive position. So, they overtuned it like most devs do.

Maybe on AMD, I have it on since purchase and haven't had a crash that would be caused by it. Usually it was just a random connection issue that escalated to CTD.

I do helldive with randoms and every bug mission ends in success some barely but it feels like a good balance/challenge now
Was kinda silly seeing so many people using their little railguns to kill tougher enemies with ease
And i gotta say mechs are excellent against bugs especially when defending at extraction for example
edit: on crashes i got a lot of them when game came out then was fine and after latest update i have some rare crashes again (rtx 4090) so thats kinda a bummer besides the server issues

Level 5 difficulty against automatons for a defend map - absolutely bonkers. They swarm so fast and even with all the EMP based deterrents we couldn't hold them back. 3-4 drop ships coming in at once. By the time we take down one or two ships and focus on a group on the ground, 3-4 more drop ships are coming in. I'd hate to see what higher difficulties for that defend map give you against the automatons.

Level 7 difficulty on bugs, bit of a challenge for 3 people, but certainly doable. Just unlocked level 8, but I haven't tried it yet.

As for the railgun, I haven't seen one person use in all the matches I've ran since the change. I tried it once and it sucks now so I don't even bother with the railgun anymore. The problem I see with it is it's not powerful enough (without a great chance to blow up on you) to damage half the creatures due to armor and it shoots too slow for you to take the time to try and power it up for a single shot that still requires 4+ shots to take down a medium armored charger. You're now taking longer to charge for a shot to possibly damage the target, you have to try and visually watch the power meter on the gun so you don't blow yourself up and with it still being so slow to reload it's just kind of a crap weapon now. It doesn't really have a place anymore.

People have shifted to the arc thrower and recoilless rifle for harder hitting weapons. I don't know if they have a way to make the railgun better than it is now without, according to them, being overpowered again.

I've seen a lot of people no longer using the Breaker as a primary, too. They've moved on to the Breaker Incendiary for a shotgun. It has a shorter range over the Breaker, but it with the wider spread and incendiary rounds it tends to chew through the bugs better.

Using a mech against the automatons is a hit or miss venture. You're now a bigger target and it is so much easier for them to hit you with a rocket or two and you blow up. Using them against bugs almost feels like it makes the missions too easy. Lots of ebb and flow going on here, I wonder if they get a better balance between things without mucking it up more.
