Ahead of the November 20th release, GSC Game World has now shared the full PC system requirements for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Powered by Epic's Unreal Engine 5, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will definitely push hardware to its limits, despite the fact that it won't support any hardware ray tracing effects at launch.

The released PC system requirements are quite high, but at least GSC Game World, as well as NVIDIA and AMD, have confirmed it will feature DLSS and FSR 3.1. NVIDIA already added the support for both DLSS 3 and Reflex with its latest GeForce drivers, and AMD has it on its list of games as "upcoming." The game will run on Windows 10 and Windows 11 and need around 160 GB of SSD storage.

Horizon: Forbidden West PC Release System Requirements Lists Out

PlayStation Studios put out the system requirements lists for the upcoming PC version of "Horizon: Forbidden West," the second chapter in the popular post-civilizational action RPG franchise that debuted with "Horizon: Zero Dawn." The game had originally released as PlayStation 5-exclusive in 2022, with the Windows PC version slated for March 21, 2024. The game is a continuation of the fascinating story of "Horizon," set in the distant future, after an apocalyptic event that caused a swarm of robots that consume matter for sustenance, to nearly wipe out humanity.

Looking at the system requirements lists, it doesn't look like developer Guerilla Inc, leading the PC port, is interested in PC-specific technologies, although the original content is pretty resource heavy from the PlayStation gameplay to begin with; and even with the game assets adapted to PC, one can expect the game to be fairly taxing on the PC. To max out the game, or experience it at 4K @ 60 FPS, its developers call for a graphics card with performance in the league of GeForce RTX 4080 or Radeon RX 7900 XT, with 16 GB of memory, and at least an Intel Core i7-11700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8-core/16-thread processor.

Drop into an expansive and dynamic open-world Metropolis ravaged by Brainiac's invasion and terrorized by the heroes who once protected it.

Good news for our Closed Alpha participants!
Back in November, we held a Closed Alpha Test for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League where players agreed to a Non-Disclosure Agreement and got a chance to check out an early section of the game. Baldur's Gate 3 PC Launch Plans Revealed

Happy launch week, folks! We hope you've printed out your lawyer-approved special dispensation form to explain your mysterious absence from work on August 3rd to your boss, because there are only two days to go before release. After six years in the making, Baldur's Gate 3's PC launch is right around the corner and we couldn't have gotten here without you. So let's have one last Community Update before then to wrap things up, answer some of your biggest questions, and reveal a few final surprises before you finally get stuck in.

Launch Day
So just how big is this game, anyhow? What time should you expect the game to release? And where did I put my keys? The answers to most of these questions can be found below.

Baldur's Gate 3 System Requirements Lists Emerge, Heavy on Content, Light on the Hardware

The Summer's most hotly anticipated game release, Baldur's Gate 3, is playable from August 3. The game's minimum- and recommended system requirements lists have been put out by its developer Larian Studios. We're happy to report that as expected, Baldur's Gate is light on the system requirements, to cater to as broad an audience as Diablo 3, the Spring's hottest RPG release.

Perhaps the steepest system requirement of Baldur's Gate is its disk space. The game calls for 150 GB of SSD storage space, which means it will be packed to the gills with content. The rest of the specs should please you. The minimum system requirements ask for an Intel Core i5-4690 or AMD FX 8350 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon RX 480 graphics card, and Windows 10; so a 10-year old PC should meet the specs. The recommended requirements talk of either an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card—so a 4-year old rig should be enough to max out the game.

Starfield PC System Requirements Revealed, Stuck at 30 FPS on Xbox

Bethesda has unveiled the first gameplay trailer for Starfield during the Starfield Direct after the Xbox Games Showcase yesterday, showing some impressive graphics from this upcoming sci-fi RPG. Shortly after, we got the confirmation from the Game Director, Todd Howard, that the game will actually be locked at 30 FPS, which does not sounds surprising, especially after the full PC system requirements got revealed.

Bethesda has put a lot of effort into Starfield, and it shows it the seen trailer. The team is also claiming that this game will have "the fewest bugs of any Bethesda game ever shipped," according to an interview that the Xbox Game Studios Head, Matt Booty, gave to Giant Bomb. He also added that there are a lot of people internally playing Starfield, and Phil Spencer, head of Xbox Games Studio, told the same outfit that the game had a much earlier release date, and was delayed twice, so hopefully we'll have a solid game at launch. Unfortunately, Todd Howard, also confirmed that the game will run at full 4K on the Xbox Series X and at 1440p on the Xbox Series S, but will be locked at 30 FPS on both consoles.

Capcom Releases Street Fighter 6 PC Benchmark Tool

Capcom has kindly provided a new benchmarking tool for folks who are wondering whether their souped-up PC gaming rigs can run the upcoming seventh (not sixth, despite the title) main entry in the Street Fighter series with aplomb - the testing suite can be downloaded from here. The development team's introductory message states: "The Street Fighter 6 Benchmark Tool monitors gameplay on the Street Fighter 6 demo and calculates a score that indicates your PC's performance. The results of the benchmarking will be shown as follows, with a score of 91 or above demonstrating that your PC can play the game with ease."

The explanation continues: "If your PC does not meet the system requirements needed to run this benchmarking software, it may not launch properly. If that happens, please reconfirm that you satisfy the criteria listed on this page under System Requirements." Street Fighter 6 is arriving this Friday (June 2), so Capcom's benchmarking tool only gives a little bit of advanced notice - an unfortunate few who "cannot operate the game" (with a 0-30 score) will need to make necessary PC upgrades in time for launch day action. Or they could simply buy the bare minimum point of entry on console: a PlayStation 4 Slim or the cheapest current generation system - Xbox Series S.

Hosted by Rod Fergusson, general manager, Adam Jackson, lead class designer, Melissa Corning, lead game producer, and Joe Shely, game director, this latest developer video gives a bit more insight about the gameplay experience.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Official PC System Requirements Revealed

Daedalic Entertainment has published the official PC system requirements for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, and these are quite high, especially considering that the game has been delayed several times and that it will be available for Nintendo Switch. Even though game has opened up pre-orders on Steam earlier today, many users are wary that the game might be another unoptimized PC port, specifically due to its high RAM and graphics card requirements.

Developed by Daedalic Entertainment and co-published by Daedalic Entertainment and NACON, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be available on May 25, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and at a later date on Nintendo Switch. As far as PC system requirements are concerned, you'll need at least an Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 CPU, 16 GB of RAM, and either an GTX 1080 or RTX 2060 graphics card, and this will get you 1080p resolution at medium preset and no ray tracing. For recommended requirements that will run the game at 1440p with ray tracing and DLSS Quality, you'll need an Intel Core i3-6100 or AMD Ryzen 2600 CPU, a hefty 32 GB of RAM, and an RTX 3080 graphics card. The game will have both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 support, and need 45 GB of storage space.

Dead Island 2 Gets Official PC System Requirements

Deep Silver has revealed the official PC system requirements for the upcoming Dead Island 2 game. The technical FAQs posted over at the official page also reveal a bit more technical details details. As expected, Dead Island 2 will only support DirectX 12 and, surprisingly, it will only have support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR 2) as well as AMD FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS), but there is no DLSS support, at least not at launch. The game will not support cross-play, but will have a co-op story mode for up to 3 players. It is also cross-gen, and more details will be available soon.

When it comes to PC system requirements, Dead Island 2 revealed minimum, recommended, high, and ultra system requirements. The minimum includes AMD FX-9590, or Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU, 10 GB of RAM, and either an AMD Radeon RX 480 or an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060. In order to run everything at ultra settings with 4K/UHD resolution at 60 FPS, you'll need an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X or an Intel Core i7-13700K CPU, 16 GB of RAM, and last-gen high-end graphics cards, the AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT or the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090. You'll also need 70 GB of storage space to install the game. Dead Island 2 is coming to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and the PC on April 21st.

The Last of Us Part 1 PC System Requirements Unveiled

PlayStation Studios is finally releasing "The Last of Us Part 1" on the PC platform, on March 28. The game will be available both on Steam and the Epic Games Store. AMD is also bundling the game with its RX 6000 and RX 7000 series graphics cards. Ahead of its release, we have its System Requirements lists, and there are four of them. The Minimum requirements (720p @ 30 Hz with Low Preset), call for an Intel Core i7-4770K "Haswell" quad-core processor, or an AMD Ryzen 5 1500X; along with at least an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti "Pascal" or GTX 970 "Maxwell," or an AMD Radeon RX 470 "Polaris." 16 GB of RAM, 64-bit Windows 10, and 100 GB of SSD storage, are required at the very least.

Next up are the developer's "Recommended" requirements, meant for 1080p @ 60 Hz gaming. This needs a Ryzen 5 3600X or Core i7-8700 processor; a GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER "Turing" or GeForce RTX 3060 "Ampere," or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT RDNA, or Radeon RX 6600 XT RDNA2 graphics card, along with 16 GB of RAM. Next up, is the "Performance" requirements list, that's 1440p @ 60 Hz, with "High" settings preset. You'll need at least a Ryzen 5 5600X or Core i7-9700K processor, at least a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti "Turing" or Radeon RX 6750 XT RDNA2 graphics, and 32 GB of RAM. The Ultra requirements is for those who want to flex things with a 4K @ 60 Hz Ultra preset experience. For this, you'll need at least a Ryzen 9 5900X or Core i5-12600K processor, at least a GeForce RTX 4080 "Ada" or Radeon RX 7900 XT RDNA3 graphics card, and 32 GB of RAM.

OEMs Under Pressure from Microsoft to Stop Use of HDDs as Boot Drives from 2023

PC OEMs have revealed to market intelligence firm Trendfocus that Microsoft wants them to stop the use of hard-disk drives (HDDs, or mechanical hard-drives) as the main boot device in products powered by Windows 11, from 2023. It's not known how the company will go about enforcing this. One theory holds that it may amend the Minimum System Requirements for the operating system to specify a flash-based storage device, such as an SSD. If push comes to shove, the OS could even refuse to deploy on a machine with an HDD as the boot device.

What's also not known is how this affects SSHDs (hard drives with tiny flash-based storage media and an access-based data-juggling mechanism). Microsoft's decision should come as a boon for entry-level notebook and desktop buyers; as this segment sees OEMs use HDDs as the boot device, the most. There could be a push toward at least DRAMless QLC SSDs, or even single-chip SSDs. Regardless, it's clear that 2.5-inch HDDs are on their way out of the industry. HDD as a technology may still exist in the 3.5-inch form-factor, as they are in high demand from the data-center and surveillance markets as cold storage devices.

Cyberpunk 2077 System Requirements Lists Updated, Raytracing Unsupported on RX 6800 Series at Launch

CD Projekt RED released updated PC system requirements lists for "Cyberpunk 2077," which will hopefully release before the year 2077. There are a total of seven user experience grades, split into conventional raster 3D graphics, and with raytracing enabled. The bare minimum calls for at least a GeForce GTX 780 or Radeon RX 480; 8 GB of RAM, Core i3 "Sandy Bridge" or AMD FX "Bulldozer," and 64-bit Windows 7. The 1080 High grade needs at least a Core i7 "Haswell" or Ryzen 3 "Raven Ridge" processor, 12 GB of RAM, GTX 1060 6 GB or GTX 1660 Super or RX 590 graphics. The 1440p Ultra grade needs the same CPUs as 1080p High, but with steeper GPU requirements of at least an RTX 2060 or RX 5700 XT.

The highest sans-RT grade, 4K UHD Ultra, needs either the fastest i7-4790 "Haswell" or Ryzen 5 "Zen 2" processor, RTX 2080 Super or RTX 3070, or Radeon RX 6800 graphics. Things get interesting with the three lists for raytraced experience. 1080p Medium raytraced needs at least an RTX 2060; 1440p High raytraced needs an RTX 3070, and 4K UHD Ultra raytraced needs at least a Core i7 "Skylake" or Ryzen 5 "Zen 2" chip, and RTX 3080 graphics. All three raytraced presets need 16 GB of RAM. Storage requirements across the board are 70 GB, and CDPR recommends the use of an SSD. What's interesting here is that neither the RX 6800 nor RX 6800 XT make it to the raytraced list (despite the RX 6800 finding mention in the non-raytraced lists). PC Gamer reports that Cyberpunk 2077 will not enable raytracing on Radeon RX 6800 series at launch. CDPR, however, confirmed that it is working with AMD to optimize the game for RDNA2, and should enable raytracing "soon."

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War System Requirements Revealed

The system requirements lists of "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War" were released, covering a broad range of gaming segments, from competitive online play, to recommended AAA campaign playthrough, and even maxed out gameplay with RTX-on. "Black Ops: Cold War" appears to be optimized for an equally diverse set of use cases. There are three disk space requirement levels. For 50 GB you get only the multiplayer component with e-Sports content. For 175 GB, you get the multiplayer component and the single-player campaign. For 250 GB, you get these two, plus additional high-resolution content. Among the use-cases are "minimum," "recommended," "recommended with raytracing," "competitive," and "Ultra RTX."

For starters, there's the absolute bare minimum, which calls for a mid-range 4th Gen Intel "Haswell" or AMD FX "Vishera" processor; along with 8 GB of RAM, GeForce GTX 670 or Radeon HD 7850 graphics (circa 2012), and either 50 GB or 175 GB, depending on what you want to install. The "recommended" tier is for the game with medium-level eye-candy. It calls for a Core i5-2500K or Ryzen 5 1600X processor, 12 GB of RAM, and GTX 970 or GTX 1660 SUPER from the NVIDIA camp; or R9 390 or RX 580 from the AMD camp. "Recommended with raytracing," is essentially minimum requirements for raytraced content. You'll need at least a Core i7-8700K or Ryzen 7 1800X processor, 16 GB of RAM, and at least RTX 3070 graphics (if you can find one).

Game Dev Rates Intel Xe HPG On Par with Radeon RX 580 in System Requirements List

Intel's Xe HPG discrete GPU made its debut in a game's system requirements list. Frictional Games, developers of "Amnesia Rebirth," put out system requirements lists for the game. Easy on graphics hardware, the first-person survival horror can make do with Intel UHD 630 integrated graphics, which features in the minimum system requirements list next to the HD 5750 from AMD and GTX 460 from NVIDIA. Things get interesting, however, with the recommended system requirements list, where we see what is possibly the first mention by a game dev of the Intel Xe HPG discrete GPU. What's even more interesting is that the Xe HPG is pitted next to the AMD Radeon RX 580 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 (which compare to the RX 5500 XT and GTX 1660 Super from the current-gen). We don't know if game devs have access to Xe HPG engineering samples, but this listing gives us a peek at what the devs expect out of the Xe HPG.

Ubisoft Updates Watch Dogs: Legion PC System Requirements

Ubisoft has today updated the PC system requirements for its Watch Dogs: Legion game. Set to release on October 29th this year, we are just a few weeks away from its release. With the arrival of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3000 series Ampere graphics cards, Ubisoft has decided to update the official PC system requirements with RTX-on capabilities. The inclusion of raytracing in the game requires a faster CPU, as well as an RTX-capable GPU. At 1080p resolution, you need at least an RTX 2060 GPU to play with high settings, and raytracing turned to the medium, including DLSS. Going up to 1440p, Ubisoft recommends gamers to use at least an RTX 3070 GPU for very high preset, raytracing on high, and DLSS set to quality. If you want to max everything out and play with the highest settings at 4K resolution, you will need an RTX 3080 GPU.
Watch Dogs: Legion Watch Dogs: Legion PC System Requirements

Watch Dogs: Legion PC System Requirements Revealed

Ubisoft released the PC system requirements lists of its upcoming open-world cyberpunk game, Watch Dogs: Legion. When it releases on October 29, 2020, "Legion" will be among the first to feature new NVIDIA technologies such as DLSS 8K, letting you take advantage of GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs to play the game at 8K. It also features support for NVIDIA RTX real-time raytracing, and DLSS 2.0 performance-enhancing image quality features. Other PC-specific technical features include an uncapped frame-rate, support for various ultra-widescreen display aspect-ratios, a selection of in-game graphics settings, and an internal benchmark that also tests NVIDIA RTX performance.

With raytracing off, Watch Dogs: Legion doesn't call for particularly exotic hardware. A 1080p "High" preset experience can be had with a sub-$150 processor such as the Ryzen 5 1600, GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or Radeon RX 480 8 GB graphics; 8 GB of dual-channel main memory, and 45 GB of storage. 4K UHD without raytracing takes something like a Core i7-9700K or Ryzen 7 3700X processor, GeForce RTX 2080 Ti or Radeon VII graphics, 16 GB of dual-channel memory, and 65 GB of storage (45 GB base + 20 GB HD textures pack). For 1080p gameplay with raytracing, you'll need at least an RTX 2070 graphics card, and modern mid-range chips such as the i5-9600K or R5 3600. Want to truly max out the game with 4K + raytracing? Get ready with at least an i7-9700K or R7 3700X, and an RTX 2080 Ti.
The complete system requirements lists follow.

Baldur's Gate 3 Available in Steam Early Access from September 30th; System Requirements Outed

Larian Studios-developed Baldur's Gate 3, the next installment in the long-running and critically-acclaimed series, will be available in Early Access form starting September 30th. The distribution will be made via Steam, and Larian says that gamers are in for a treat. Baldur's Gate 3 will have a much deeper initial Early Access plethora of features than their previous game, Divinity Original Sin 2. Some numbers comparing both releases, for clarity, are as follows: Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access will feature a total of 80 combat scenarios (22 in D:OSII); some 45,980 lines of dialog (17,600 in D:OSII); a total of 596 interactable characters (142 in D:OSII); and 146 available spells and actions (69 in D:OSII).

The relative length of the available content remains about the same (Larian estimates 20-30 hours of playtime in Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access content, the same as in D:OSII), but Larian says that Baldurs' Gate 3 is infinitely more replayable, with unprecedented player agency. System requirements aren't too high either, at least for an Early Access version of the game; however, Larian is quick to point out that these requirements will only go down - not up - as optimizations are achieved within the games' development. It seems that the engine feature set is already fixed, and that the studio isn't looking to upgrade it until the games' release. Look after the break for the Minimum and Recommended hardware configurations for this latest romp through the world of Dungeons & Dragons.
