Red Dead Redemption 2 Update Arrives July 13, Brings NVIDIA DLSS Technology

Rockstar Games, the developer behind plenty of AAA titles, including Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2), is preparing an interesting update for all the RDR2 players. Called the "Blood Money" update, it brings new player activities to the Red Dead Online community. As Rockstar describes it, you will "Step into the criminal underworld of Red Dead Online: Blood Money on July 13, and prove you are willing to get your hands dirty in service to notorious and well-connected members of Saint-Denis society." While the update brings interesting content, it also integrates new technologies for visual/graphics improvements. NVIDIA's Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) is also landing on July 13, allowing you to play the game with better performance and image quality if you have a GeForce RTX graphics card.

Looking forward to the DLSS reviews on this... it should be heavily heavily optimized for DLSS as Nvidia knows its one of their strong points now.

I'm pretty negative about DLSS in many instances, but RDR2 is the perfect use case for me, game that struggles to FPS targets, pretty slow in general minimising most ghosting and 'pop in' instances. Look forward to picking up wherever my last save is then restarting because I can't remember anything about it.

If you are playing this on 1440p I feel like pushing up the render scale to 4k is the proper way to play it. It just looked broken on 1440p without +1.5 render scale, muddy textures everywhere, looked like it was a bug or something. I wonder if dlss can fix 1080/1440p resolutions.

Alot of games use TAA and they all look just fine. RDR2 1440p native feels like it was using 1080p textures or worse, its really something else. I figured something broke while porting it to PC since consoles dont use 1440p. But im not sure if they fixed it, I played it couple of months after release to pc.

Been a long time since i played single player but yeah it was really bad some times, multiplayer how ever it depends if they are pushing silent updates or not, like the last few weeks it's been pretty bad but that said a crash for about every 8 hours maybe even longer.

The game likes a 100% stable PC to run on too.

The wilderness camp is broken right now to in multiplayer so avoid using that if you play the multiplayer.

I play the game currently with 3 friends all wildly different pc's and we just crash all the time currently, wont do a goods delivery for the trader roll as im 100% sure one will not make it that long without crashing, its completely nuts.

Ok, cool. Just started playing it again. What's geeking me out was that I considered this when I decided to pick it back up. Even mentioned it. Days later it comes up around the bend. Spooky.

Ahh, well... it could really use it. Even if its not the good-good form, it's not like thier TAA isnt among the blurriest already

It's like Nvida was dragging their feet with the DLSS implementation in all this games.

Nope, they're all blurry like you have astigmatism. RDR2 and control are some of the worst. Go ahead and test it. It's the equivalent and going from 4k to 1080 when switched on at half or more. Nvidia destroys with TAA and then sells you a solution with dlss. It's basically a conspiracy. Turn off sharpening to see how truly bad it is.

The only ones that don't drive me insane (aka serviceable quality) is frostbite games.
I don't use TAA, it's headache inducing and you can't see anything. I use FXAA and 2x smaa. Yeah, it leaves a lot of jaggies still, but at least I can actually see.

WOW, you guys seem to have it bad, some do for what ever reason but i do a trader every day with without issue with a near or full posse, the odd time it will crash but it's rare.

But i have noticed some are crashing a load, some say it's some of the cards that can have it crashing. Some people crash like crazy one day and nothing the next day too. But only had 3 crashes over 2 weeks unless you count the wilderness camp which i recommend not using right now. Maybe when the patch drops it be fixed but will have to see.

Yeah im pretty sure it has something to do with communication with te servers, the Wilderness Camp indeed caused crashes for a while and so did going in Dead Eye, those have been fixed, but yeah today we crash for nothing a LOT, but who knows, maybe when this update is out (which btw looks like it adds nothing to the game) it will be fine.
