New Xbox Development Kit Certified by South Korean Agency

Yesterday, South Korea's National Radio Research Agency certified a brand new and very mysterious Xbox Development Kit—naturally, the "Xbox News for Koreans" social media account took credit for this intriguing discovery: "this means that you can use the device in Korea. It is likely to be distributed to game developers in Korea soon." The model's serial code—2089—does not correspond to any of Microsoft's current Xbox Series (X|S) development kits. The tipster shared a short history lesson: "Xbox Series X|S dev kit consoles were certified by the National Radio Research Agency on June 10-11, 2020. The release of the Xbox Series X|S console in Korea was on November 10, 2020." By referencing the current generation's five-month gap—between registration and release of finalized retail units—it is speculated that something new could be arriving around August time.

Industry experts reckon that the leaked devkit is not linked to a rumored "All-Digital" White Xbox Series X Refresh—the latter likely contains unchanged basic hardware designs. Windows Central posited that an Xbox handheld is another possibility—leaked product roadmaps (of 2022 vintage) revealed that Microsoft was considering a move into portable gaming segments. A month ago, Xbox leadership discussed the platform's future—Sarah Bond stated: "there's some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we're going to share this holiday, and we're also invested in the next generation roadmap...and what we're really focused on there, is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation." Many media outlets believed that an Xbox Series "Pro" model was teased during the special Official Xbox Videocast.

I've been displeased with every Xbox generation since Xbox 360.

Xbox One was a disappointment because of the reduced variety of games compared to Xbox 360.

Xbox One X I see almost no reason to buy except for marginally better framerates - and even then it had problems playing PUBG.

Xbox Series X has NO GAMES.

After Xbox One I switched to PC gaming till Microsoft gave me a reason to come back.

So far: nothing!

Next generation must have latest technology from hardware or software as written down:
CPU: AMD RYZEN Zen5 with big and small cores (Zen5, Zen5c) 16 cores + 3d cach memory to boost fps.
GPU: lastest RDNA4 cores + AI cores + RT cores.
RAM: GDDR7 20GB 32gbps bandwith 384bit wide-bus.
M.2: Using standrad m.2 size.
SR: latest technology of AI to enhance super resolution technology.
Add some features like showing CPU/GPU/VRAM temp, useage and fps (max/avg/low).
Exterior: Must habe arbg light on.
wireless charging technology 35w capability.
size must be small as it should, I dont understand why you are try to make it very big at every generation? it should be slim tiny.

Some games are just horrible optimized to make use of those Jaguar cores. And frankly it was the best AMD had to offer; intel was too expensive for console CPU's.

Calm down, we're barely mid-generation refresh. Next generation isn't expected to come until 2026/2027.

All depends on price/performance balance at the time of making the new console's "blueprint". Don't expect ultra high end hardware in a console that's supposed to cost somewhere around 500/600 dollars.
M.2: Using standrad m.2 size.
It likely won't happen for the built-in storage though, as both Xbox and PS5 have chosen to implement custom storage solutions for better performance.

It's a console, not a PC, so don't expect that kind of info to be easily available.

Unless they follow Nintendo's route with the Switch and make a portable variant, that's not happening.

who said I wrote for current generation? must of hardware already in production and it will availale in next few months there are no reasons to shift developing the next generation for next two or three years. the current consol already outdated and needs big jump to show real 4k performance unlike current generation.
you cant compare the price of console to PCs if you look at mini-pc it show same performance of desktop with 1/2 price. even the latest technology will keep the price of consol arou $500-$600 even if consol reaches $700 with big performance enhanced ~3X every one will be happy to pay for it

Not for the internal SSD no, but for storage expansion like PS5 does now. XSX uses a proprietary card format that is way more expensive than a bare M.2 drive.
I hope they ditch these for the successor and go the PS5 route for storage expansion. Also both could make the process easier for the end user.

Currently as i understand the PS5 owner has to unhook the big side panel, unscrew the bay cover and only then can they insert the new M.2 drive.
I would like to see some sort of tool-less spring loaded port for M.2 with hot-swap ability.

You forgot the price. Cheap. Must be cheap. By any definition.
