The Witcher IV Gets New Trailer at The Game Awards, Pre-Rendered on Unannounced NVIDIA RTX GPU

CD Projekt RED pulled out a rabbit out of its hat, revealing the first trailer for the upcoming The Witcher IV title. The new trailer is pre-rendered in a custom build of Unreal Engine 5, which CD Projekt RED is now using instead of its own in-house engine, as announced earlier. More interestingly, it is pre-rendered on an "unannounced NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU." CD Projekt RED teamed up with Platige Image, who were responsible for intro cinematics in the previous Witcher games.

The trailer, which is almost six minutes long, follows Ciri, which confirms earlier rumors that the game might focus on Ciri as the main character. As detailed by CD Projekt RED, the trailer shows Ciri's new abilities and tools, as well as a small part of the story, a witcher contract set in a remote village. CD Projekt RED is promising that The Witcher IV will be "the most immersive and ambitious open-world Witcher game to date."
In the nearly six-minute trailer, viewers were introduced to Ciri, the adopted daughter of Geralt of Rivia, as she takes on a witcher contract in a remote village that has been terrorized for generations by a fearsome monster demanding human sacrifices. Framed as a short, self-contained Witcher story, the trailer showcases Ciri's new abilities and tools, including a chain and advanced magic powers.

At the heart of the trailer is Ciri's perspective as an outsider to the village. As the villagers say goodbye to one of their own - a young girl they are preparing for a traditional ritual sacrifice - Ciri chooses to intervene. Aiming to slay the beast and save the girl at the same time, Ciri finds herself at odds with the prejudices and superstitions of the people she tries to protect, leading her to confront a painful witcher lesson: that monsters come in all forms.

Yeah I'm checked out. They got CDPR. It's gonna be the perf requirements of CP77 but with none of the technically impressive visuals. It'll look like the last 5 UE5 games, which is, to say, a blurry TAA-riddled mess, and make my 3060 explode if I try anything above the Medium preset with DLSS Quality.

anyone that mattered at cdprojectred left around the time of cyberpunk so im not really surprised this looks like ass. add them to the list of producers that once were good like bioware, blizzard, ubisoft etc. gaming got hollywood and hollywood has been creatively bankrupt slop for decades.

ChomiqTypical outrage crowd, calling something woke before realizing that that's a character straight out of source material.
I've always been intrigued by Witcher games but never got around to playing one. All this misogynist hate from a trailer (woman can't get mad or take charge, apparently?) means I'm definitely playing this one!

OnasiNow-now, let’s be fair. She’s 1/8th elven at best. And I too was represented by Geralt, a widely despised mutant monster slayer, a glorified pest control specialist. After all, I too am widely despised.
LOL. Judging by the familiy tree, Ciri isn't even 1% elf.

bugAt work now, haven't seen the trailer, but has Geralt gone non-binary? :p
I guess this is what happens if you leave Toxicity level at 100 for too long

Apart from that... very Witchery trailer. That is really all I can say. It could have been the teaser for the next season, too lol
OctopussI was just about to comment how sick to my stomach I was after being told that there already are lots of dumb comments under the trailer, presumably by the "white heterosexual males", complaining about having to play a woman, but I see that shit is already being brought up here. I just hope most of the comments here are irony (my pseudoautistic mind cannot tell).
Yes, they are, the first one was enough to get us going lol

I honestly can't fault the trailer for anything. It is what we've come to expect. Ciri being a Witcher is, okay, but she was already training for it wasn't she. Not entirely unexpected imho. TW3 revolves around her as much as Geralt.
dirtyferretI enjoyed Geralt's story in two of the three games (I did enjoy the first game more after they enhanced it) but I played the games for the writing & stories. It's not like BG or Diablo where you have options to create your own character, you know going into these specific games who the protagonist is. If the developers want a dragon or a marsupial as their hero, I'm not going to cross my arms and huff and puff because the character doesn't represent me.
Perhaps that's the thing though, you do kinda get into Geralt's skin when you play this stuff right. Its a big change of scenery nonetheless, I can see why some people have trouble adjusting. Its a bit like if you were to change the protagonist of Mario Bros. into Peach, and then still call it Mario Bros.

But adjust or don't, its happening anyway :P

What is decidedly not slop to you in gaming around this time? I'm curious. Or is everything shit
